I wish more young riders of today could get a chance to take these beautiful bikes onto the track. As a twelve year old I used to wash and ' run up ' all the bikes for the local Yamaha dealer. I remember my first time on a YZ125C and taking his MX360( 400?) for a run. Twelve year old on a 360 and the throttle stuck..... I got it into neutral and then did something I've never done again in my life - I grabbed the HT lead in attempts to kill the engine ( I forget if the kill switch worked), then ' woke up ' next to a now quite bike. Thankfully it fell away from me. I walked the bike back to the shop and quietly resumed cleaning the other bikes. Great, great days.
I had a 1974 kx125. It was a great bike. The Honda cr125 was more popular but honestly this bike was better. It had more low end and broader power for a 125. I liked it better than other 125’s of the time. I had a 74’ pursang that seized alot. I had a husky cr 125 73’. It was ok. This KX was the best to me. I remember these were the days guys tried to cheat and run 175 top ends in their 125’s on Yamahas. Used to have a 175 mx class then.
