Land Rover Series 3 found parked up for 15 years. The reason it was parked up was because it just wouldn’t start one day.
I bought it and trailered it home. This video just shows the initial cleanup and fitting of a new carburettor and electronic ignition to get it running. The plan is to get this old Land Rover road legal once more.
This is an ongoing project and future progress will be filmed and posted online.

That's the right way of thinking, erhardt.... The patina tells the whole story. Remove it, and it's just another rebuild, Mutton dressed up as Lamb.

Hi thanks for your comment. When I first winched it onto the trailer I was seriously thinking what have I done buying this. After I cleaned it I realised how lucky I was. The bulkhead is good. Just needs the footwells done as far as I see. The chassis I’m not sure about yet. I still need to give it a proper look over and make a decision on it.

What a nice landy. Well preserved under a layer of leaves and moss/lichen. Was expecting a lot of rust somewhere 😏😏 Quite a surprise when the blue colour came through, as it looked like a green Landy... Good video, fast forarded when needed, and the sweet starting at the end... Love it... 🇿🇦 👌🏻 🇿🇦

Thanks for you comment! I did clean up very well. A lot better than I was expecting anyway. Unfortunately there is some rust that needs sorting. A few patches on the chassis, footwells and the door frames are shot but it’s definitely still worth saving. 🇿🇦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇿🇦

😂 yeah it wasn’t easy to tell what colour it was at the start. I used Autosmart G101. It’s a high strength multipurpose cleaner and my go to for any stubborn jobs. Not the best for using on painted surfaces as it can fade the paint but as I’m keeping the patina that didn’t matter. Also not the cheapest at £25-£30 for 5L but a little goes a long way if it’s diluted.

The old Range Rover is known for blowing out a front tire....then sorta cartwheeling afterward because of the height of the car This is symptomatic with the British car industry....come up with innovative designs and not sorting out the final stuff. (It originates from the oligarchy which controls Britain....theyre looking for a fat buck rather than long term planning.....it enabled the Japanese to outclass Land Rover and steal the market...which is very difficult to claw back.
