Tatro your the man!! Thanks for sharing your expertise to America and the Youth of America we thirst for knowledge and your a fresh drink a water man. Although I'm almost 50 years old I feel like a young man in my mind heart and soil.. my 84 and 1/2 Ironhead Roadster thanks you also. Peace brother from daytona beach fl.
I'm a super masculine macho dude that only got that way by adoration and respect for women!!!! All real masculine guys understand that's the only way to being a tough guy so see you have the same understanding by relinquishing the knowledge and understanding of wrenching to females and for you to be so helpful and involved in teaching this wonderful woman once again makes me take my hat off to you Tatro!!! All due respect to you!!!! Good job!!!
Looks like someone that had no clue what they were doing has been working on her bike and fucked everything up!! Glad she found the best guy to fix all the problems for her. Wish Tatro was in my home town.
I have that dyna s ignition system with the mechanical fly weights for advance and retard of ignition on my 1990 evo big twin …. Question for you tatro can I use the same method too set my timing ? I’m worried it’s off and just wanna know the best way too set it and what too look for
Hey, I'm getting no spark to the plugs. I have tested ohms and voltage to /from every component back to the Dyna S ignition module. Blue wire from sensor to top of 5 ohm dual plug coil, white wire from sensor to bottom (pos) post of coil and hot switch wire to bottom of coil as well. When I place timing in same manner as you did here and check for spark to plugs just as you did, I get no spark. I tested voltage from the white wire from sensor as well without it being connected to coil and nothing. Would this indicate bad Dyna S sensor? '78 shvlhead. Thank you.
I had to replace the gear cover due to stripped screw threads for the points plate. I put the new cover on, thought I tightened all the screws. Nope, was tired and missed a couple. I am to old now.
Man I like your video's a lot. I can tell you're a great mechanic and machinist and that you do things right the first time. But if I could offer 1 spec of criticism...You need a narrator or a clip mic. I miss a lot of things that you say because of that for one. And two you tend to mumble (please don't take offense). But other than that your vid's are great!
i have very thick shin. no on the clip mic, i move around to much and it could be dangerous around my machines. i need to just talk louder or get a forward facing mic. tatro
that only works as long as your motor sprocket nut stays very tight and you don't change the spline that the rotor is on. the flywheel marks do not move ever. tatro
My front plug is dry black and the rear plug is tan. This video is great, I have a Dyna S dual fire mechanical advance as well. Was wondering how to time it. Any reason to check with a timing light? The original pickup, module, and vacuum system has been removed from my 85 XLH.
I was reading the install directions and it mentions that I need a late model rotor. I think I upgraded to a higher power rotor thinking of electronic ignition. Will I still need another rotor?
@@TatroMachine Can't afford it and want to stay with points. Is there any decent supplier for a good advance mechanism, points and condensor that you know of? Thank you.
