The NFL football Cardinals are my favorite team. I love your videos. Learning more history of my team. I didn't become a fan till 1998 when they beat the Chargers with a last second field goal by Jacke. Then going to Dallas and whooping them Cowboys in the playoffs. Has been my team ever since.

Plummer was the qb at the time...

I was at that Thanksgiving Day game vs. Buffalo. I wanted to see OJ run, but his fullback, Jim Braxton, had 100 yds on the ground instead. It was miserably cold that day.

The Cardinals could not ever break through, so sad.

i know this is 45 years ago, but in that first Washington game, that touchdown Theismann threw to number 52, how was that not illegal man downfield? i assume 52 was lined up as tight end or tackle eligible, but there was a lineman right next to him noticed something funny. at about the 5 minute mark, "highlighted by brutal blocking from every member of the offense" and they show Mel Gray getting knocked on his ass by an Eagle lol

Mel tried knowing he'd get plowed over.

Hard to believe the 70's Cards never won a playoff game.

Right?? I suffered horribly through those years, lol. The cards were my favorite team, and the cowboys were my dad's favorite. When they played each other it was a big event around our house. The cards gave Dallas some great games, but in the end "America's team" was just too much. IMO, there were two reasons for the lack of playoff success: Lack of an elite defense and Jim Hart. While I believe Hart is the most underrated QB in NFL history, it just seemed like he could not lead his team to victory in the really big games.

@jakemitchell1671 disagree, Jim Hart was good. The Cards were like the Rams, just couldn't break through in the 70's.

@@RandallDenison Could you be more specific than "just couldn't break through?" That could be said for dozens of teams. I love Jim Hart, but the fact is he didn't deliver in the big games, and the defense constantly let a great offense down.

@jakemitchell1671 simply good teams that couldn't get it done in playoffs. I think if Air Coryell and Terry Metcalf had stayed they could have been like Marlon Brando. Could have been a" contenda".

Coryell looks understandably devastated in that press conference after the Rams game. Cardinals were a solid offensive team and that O-line played a gigantic role in their 11 wins. Seems like it was a big year for secondary man, Norm Thompson, who made some game-breaking plays.

Yes Indeed..The fact that they won a division with both the Skins and Boys proves that. But I'm sure any Cardinal fan still around today would still feel the sting of that loss to the Rams...
