I was wrong and you guys are right, I was not giving the engine enough fuel to run properly. I need to stop relying on just filling the float bowl. A couple weeks after this video Mike and I decided to run the bike from the tank on the bike which turned out to work just fine.

Those are great bikes indeed. A friend of mine back in the day had one of those.

Almost traded for one just like that once, but dude changed his mind the next day. He said he was afraid he would instantly regret letting it go. It had been sitting a couple years and after our near trade I think it reignited his passion for his bike and he pulled it out and freshened it up and started riding it again so I didn't mind losing out on it at all because of that.

A little more craigslist carb rebuild lol she's a runner. Definitely a aftermarket card. Needs a mikuni. I did an oil injection delete on a 75 ty175 trials a while back.Ebay carb was a fail.

A genuine mekuni carb will make it run smoother definitely but one thing don't Do a oil injection cancel out those carbs are designed to meter only fule If you mix it with the gas sure it will run And even good until you come to a stop at a light or on a dirt road it will overload with oil in the fuel and stall I'm talking about the original mekuni carb The after market ones have bigger metering holes or circuits so you might get away with it? I like the oil injection They work great when they are working You just have to take them apart if they sit for long periods of time and clean real good maybe change a seal or oring

Yeah I just bought a 1975 YZ80B and I am going through it and I'm gonna give it to my son. The oil injection indeed does work still on it and it's been sitting for a very very long time lol. I just cleaned everything. Looks like someone rebuilt the top end with an almost new clutch and a more modern two ring piston and I didn't split the cases. Everything works great. Just have to find an original tank it has a red 70s YamahaGT tank on it. They put the wrong carb on it and I am afraid to run it on the main jet. The cylinder intake doesn't even line up they removed a bunch of material to make it fit so I won't run it hard at all lol

This is the bike I wanted when I was 14 (Legal age then for MC's) but the dealer said it was too powerful for me. ARG, wound up getting a Honda XL 125, out grew it in 6 months, traded it for a Honda MT250. I so wish I had just gotten the 175 to start with. Faster than my 250.

I hear ya, I was 13 when my Dad passed so, at 14 and 8th grade graduation my Mom helped me get a brand new Honda MR175. Great memories, kinda...

I would like to have that one to.

Possibility that they changed the carb but not the slider and the needle is not correct for the carb body. Also they may not have plugged the hole where the oil feeds in. Not sure on that one whether it's directly into the carb or directly into the cylinder.

That is a very strong possibility.

Got the exact same bike and just recieved the samecarb off ebay, only so I can spend time sorting my origonal carb in the sonic cleaner, will make sure I use its slide as well, I would of done the same had I not seen this.

Glad the video helped you. Let me know how well the aftermarket carb works. Thanks!

ITS NOT GETTING ENOUGH FUEL

I agree. OldGuy's OldBikes (RU-vid channel) mention that the original slide and needle were possibly used and don't work with aftermarket carb. Best fix is to get factory carb, in my humble opinion.
