I do believe some of those pickup trucks were used by funeral homes as flower cars but I could be wrong. I used to own two of these big heavy weight Cadillacs. They we're both 1974 model years and one was a 75 series limousine and the other was a Fleetwood. I do know for sure the horsepower in 1973 which was 375 horsepower so if you have one hold on to it. Now back in 1972 the 472 engine was rated at only 205 horsepower then went up to 375 in 1973 model year Cadillacs. The ones that were equipped with the 472 cubic inch anyway. Then in 1974 that 472 dropped back down to around 200 horse again but didn't lower the torque to keep the beast rolling for power. For some odd reason 1973 was the highest powered 472 engine in Cadillacs to the end of its run during the OPEC gas scare of the seventies. To end the story My 1974 Cadillac 75 series did save my life in a head on collision. The other car which was a Mustang was traveling at a high rate of speed in which one of the occupants did not survive. Thank you and peace to all of you.
Thanks again for posting....I think the Mirage was 1975 and 1976 only. Also, the proper description IS 'Flower Car', whether some owners chose that purpose or not. It isn't a proper truck; it CERTAINLY isn't a 'wagon' (despite the post title); the most correct description of the body is absolutely 'flower car', no matter what revisionist artbitrary verbiage is used by those not around when it was conceived and contracted.
I worked for a man in Northern Kentucky back in the early 80's that he and his son each owed one of these. When asked why ? He said " I never liked color TV until I could afford one".

I think an Buick Electra coupe or Olds 98 would have been better looking, but just my opinion. Back then I think the 98/Electra/deVilles were all 'C' bodies.
Those braces lol. Shows how a car brand whether gm Ford Chrysler whomever applies a band aid to a poor design. Don't get me wrong it's a sweet ride. But those things scream after thought cause during testing it wasn't strong or stiff enough.
flower cars are similar but these are not the flower cars, these were actually sold through the dealers and built by either a coach company or custom shop. the flower cars have been around for as long as i remember and have higher sides and more decoration , this is not the flower car .
Maybe the one you know of carried an urn, yet when Winfield was commissioned by Cadillac to build these trucks he installed the lockable side door for golf club storage. That's who these Caddy's were marketed and built for...the Country Club elites! Hence the price tag which is more than twice that of a fully loaded Eldorado convertible.
These were very common in the funeral industry years ago. They are special custom vehicles but not for any other reason than flower cars . I see these occasionally at car shows and tge owners claim outlandish tales about them usually but the truth is they are funeral flower cars.
This just doesn't seem right! This and the Cadillac El Dorado Wagons were an abomination... sorry but El Camino's were cool, until the last couple of models and then they just got ugly! GM does have a history of screwing up a good thing. LOL
