Great find! I missed out on a similar truck last year. You will have fun and F600 is tough!!! In my opinion, the Ford 330 V8 is also a stump puller of an engine. Onward!!
That's a man sized truck. I went through the same nut roll on wheels and tires for a 1952 F6. I replaced the 20 inch tires and Firestone Widow Maker rims for Budds off a junk MOPAR Motor Home M500 chassis. They bolted right up front, and back dually, but I dropped down to 19 five tubeless road tires. I miss the look of the 20's, but not the rub and loss of control on sharp turns, plus the chains and shear terror of airing them up and down.
I found this video and maybe a couple others dealing with this in some similar issues on these beautiful F 600s. Mine is a 1959 year, and I am hoping to update for safety reasons some of the similar stuff you were talking about in video. Is there a way to reach out or contact you via email or messenger? I’m not a spammer, just a disabled vet who has been transplanted from the West Coast to the midUS, and unfortunately I had left my network of friends that are CarGurus back near Pomona lol. Trying to start up a new net work out here closer to home to make it easier to find people who know what they’re talking about working on these trucks like you, and a reputable direction to get safe and new supplies for it. You have a beautiful machine, and I look forward to seeing how it comes along in the future
So far I’m still running the rears reverse mounted. Just need to make sure the adapter plates are bolted on reverse also because of the tapered lug nuts. Stinks for rotating but mine sees very little asphalt anyways. Rebuilt the dump bed deck and hope to be posting that vid soon. Been using it as is and haven’t been able to do much for further upgrades yet.
Mostly stock for now. Axles and Transfer Case are Rockwell’s and parts aren’t terrible to find. Trans is a Clark unit and knock on wood, are known to last forever. Engine and brakes are the weak links but a school bus or equivalent is hopefully in the works for an engine, Allison swap and hydro boost. Axle brakes are TBD. Leaning toward disk brake conversions from Boyce Equipment. Just need the $
I know but I gave up trying to explain the difference to people. Most everyone I’ve talked with hasn’t even seen a true split rim. You’re the first to even. lol
My wife actually found them on marketplace. Got a heck of a deal for 4 for $450. 2 tire were great and 2 were really dry rotted. Ended up getting 3 shipped from easternsurplus.net so I have a spare. Hindsight I wish I’d of switched to Goodyear MVT because they are more common now days and way easier to find in good shape.
When only 3 out of 6 tires don’t hold air longer then 24 hrs, 1 tire is ruptured and the 2 remaining look worse then a dried up puddle. I’d say there pretty high on the to-do list. Lol
