1976 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition One Owner and Custom 1977 at the 2019 Salem Roadster Show 

I’ve had my 76 Trans Am for 22 years it’s made it thru 3 divorces!!! It’s not going anywhere!

My brother had the 70 formula 400 4sp I fell in love so I got 72 formula 350 4sp and put in a 455 I love this year car. My sister had the 77 trans am and a 69 gto convertible4 sp both I drive alot. I had the motor for the GTO a before I had my 72 formula and learned what they were. Yup all are gone today. Even that motor I hope it was saved.

I had a 1976 and think it's the best year. He should have got it with power windows though. Mine was a 400 and auto. I love that 76 here...

Sorry but your wrong there was only one 1976 trans am used in the movie and if you look close during the movie in one scene you can see the honey comb wheels , the other cars were 1977 trans Am’s for a long time Burt had2 of the ones used in the movie both 77’s , the hood on a 76 and front clip were different as well as interior pieces were different , and as you mentioned hood shakers were different as well

Pontiac gave the movie 3 1977 TA's for use in the movie and they were all destroyed per the contract with GM. There was a 1976 SE used in the film, you only see the side view with Honeycomb wheels, in the beginning of the movie when they cross the state line going into Texarkana. FTR, George Barris had noting to do with the cars and the one that made the bridge jump was modified, but destroyed upon landing they used it for parts for the other cars. There's a few documentaries out there, including a interview by Hal Needham himself and has said this himself. I met Burt Reynolds in 2015 and he autographed the glove box lid of my 1977 Trams Am and asked him if was able to keep any of the cars from the movie and he laughed and said no. Only one was running by the end of movie and just barely. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble here.

That 77 is a bandit edition made by Year one or a clone of their build , they use those seats as well as the bigger snow flakes and LS7 motor

My brother bought a black 77 TA before the movie came out. His didn't have all the gold trim.

I love how guys can’t stand it when something is better lol I’d rather have the pro touring TA all day stock sucks no matter what anyone says a true car guy buys a car if he got cash 💵 he wanna make it better faster all that jazz so when he says the aftermarket wheels no sir there def not aftermarket there made fir that car aftermarket is made for several diff cars then wheels are not for any other car but that one even the bird on them
