Fun drive it felt like I was there driving on those roads! Also thanks for the history lesson on that special 911. I learned something new today! Cheers! 👍😎👍
When I saw the Ducati scrambler in front of the 1976 I thought it was going to be either the chase/chaser cam. (That could be a good idea to add up angles to your canyon run) Much better audio and edit than previous red Carrera video. You're awesome Magnus, thanks for sharing and keep them coming, we mere humans really appreciate them.
Thanks, that was a really great video. Audio was a perfect balance between you talking and the sound of the engine. Thanks for this :) (can we have more of these please)
@@MichaelJames-lz7ni The rare 1974-1976 Carrera MFI 2.7 (aka Euro Carrera) came from Porsche with the 911/83 type RS-spec engine producing 210 bhp. The most lengendary flat-six ever produce...
@@carolbaker5011 Porsche built great racing-engines - So What? You said it yourself - those engines are RARE. The PRODUCTION 2.7 that came installed in production 911s of that era are all JUNK - the head stud problem of those motors are MUCH WORSE (read- far MORE common) than the IMS bearing issue of the 996 drivetrain. If you don't know the massive problems of the 2.7 flat-six, please stop trying to impress me with your (limited) Porsche knowledge.
Thanks for sharing your cars and thoughts with us. Inspired me to do some of my own videos to share my 997 😊. Love how you build your cars for the mere fact of having fun on the road, be one with the car, be free and not worried what others think. “Pedal to the metal” and “smiles per mile” 😁. Are you going to the crest anytime soon with a meet or so? I would love to join. Happy Porsche driving!
What a video! Very nice video, it would be cool to hear Magnus talking while we is driving as well as the voice over! I am loving these videos! Thanks!
Would be very interesting to know what Magnus paid for the car, and what the former owner felt like when he discovered what it was actually worth. I think Magnus would be the last guy I called if I were selling a 911, especially one that you hadn't researched the spec of.
These magnesium case engines in 2.7 or 2.8L format run and sound like no other 911 engine. The 3L and later engines sort of hit a reset button in terms of sound and rev happiness, just not the same
Video taught me something. Bosch Mechanical Fuel Injection. Like what is on the BMW 2002 TII - Kugelfischer Kugelfischer is the name for a mechanical fuel injection (MFI) pump. It was produced by FAG Kugelfischer and later by Robert Bosch GmbH. Derived from diesel pumps from the early 1960s, the Kugelfischer system was the most widely-adopted mechanical injection pump for performance vehicles. It was among the first units with manufacturer-customizable fuel delivery maps which used rpm, throttle position, temperature, and sometimes barometric pressure as inputs. This was accomplished mechanically, not electronically. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, it was fitted to a variety of production vehicles from BMW, Ford UK, Lancia, Peugeot, Ferrari and others. It is perhaps best known for its use by BMW in the 2000tii/2002tii (and later, the 2002 Turbo) performance sedan from 1970-1975, the 1964-1976 Porsche 911/911S/Carrera RS/RSR/Carrera MFI, and the BMW M1 Procar from 1978-1981. Due to high manufacturing cost however, it became economically undesirable with the introduction of cheaper electronic engine management systems (and continuous-injection mechanical systems) by the end of the decade. However, the Kugelfischer system continued to be used as a specialty injection pump for purpose-built race engines into the 1980s such as the 1982 Porsche 911 SC/RS. It is very much like the Spica mechanical fuel injection pump used on Alfa Romeo, which also was derived from a diesel fuel injection pump.
It was meant as a light hearted comment aimed at Magnus’s UK roots, clearly it’s not the bullring in Birmingham. What I will say is there is beauty both sides of the pond.
I brought an ice green one from Munich Germany in 1982. Dave Aase of Aase Brothers Porsche Parts in Santa Ana California ended up with it. I paid $9000 American dollars for it and sold it for $16000 in Laguna Beach in 1983 after Andial did some work on the fi pump and transmission.
The early one in the video is called Angeles Forest Highway if you wanted to know. The later road kinda looks like Little Tujunga canyon but not sure about that one. Lots of good roads around here.
Ok, I appreciate your love of Porsche, I've always liked them as well. Time to get a haircut and shave. ? lets see what's under there. You can always grow it back.:)
Hannah is a good camera girl good job.... Smooth driving there Magnus Love that building, Larry Chen should have shot the 1st 356 outlaw Porsche he just posted , should have shot it at that building it's a " RIPE " spot for it....
Magnus we met at Greystone a long time ago. My question is how did you get your 76 mfi to pass emission? I have a 76 as well but it wouldn't pass when I lived there in L.A.
Hi Magnus, Saw you in Silverlake in Pale blue 911 a week ago. It’s looked badass. Would love to know year and model. P. S you acknowledged me with a nod.
I bought one in 2003, for.......£4.5k!!!!!! It was lethal, the only 911 I've ever spun, twice. I failed to see the trend when I sold it 3 months later for 8.5. A bit of research sees it currently for sale as a non running project. 35k these days is still a lot for a car that needs A LOT of work. So I ain't buying it back!
3 cars on my wish list from this epic era in the middle of 'old' and 'modern': Alfa Romeo GT 105, Porsche 911, and Ferrari Dino GTS. The first is already in my garage, maybe the second comes someday, the third i'm afraid will remain a dream. i'm not rich and i consider myself very lucky everyday i get in that jewel.
MFI = Mechanical Fuel Injection?..........good ol Angeles Crest.........One day I was driving up there and they were pulling one of the Hillside Strangler's victims up the steep terrain to the road...sad
