Yankee teams of 77 and 78 were fun to watch both on and off the field😂! You had great starting pitching (Guidry, Figueroa, Catfish), relievers (Lyle and then Goose Gossage), speed (Mickey Rivers and Willie Randolph), lots of power ( Reggie, Nettles, Chambliss, Munson) then add Piniella, Roy White, CliffJohnson, Paul Blair and of course Bucky “effin” Dent

Great game, but the night before this, it was Vida Blue vs Jim "Catfish" Hunter. Instant classic.

Very sad Oakland lineup that day, just three years after their ‘72-‘74 WS titles.😳⚾️

most likely, no. A lot of games were not televised back then. Box score is available though on retrosheet and baseball almanac

"Stranded" for the Summer near Carson City Nevada...I could dial in the A's games. I was curious about Manny Sanguillen ,Mitchell Paige, and Tony Armas for their Pirate ties. There was also Dick Allen on the team. Hmmm? Listening many nights I realized how far they had fallen 1971-1976. Except for Mitchell Paige and a few young arms to "help" Vida Blue...yikes- A bad team and even worse attendance.

Rizzuto had by now begun to purposely mid-pronounce players’ names and generally act less and less seriously on the broadcasts. It’s a shame because he was quite entertaining for the first 17 or 18 years of his broadcasting career.
