Video of a legitimate Cold Start of a 1977 C3 Corvette after sitting in the garage for 4 months during wintertime. The C3 was in an unheated garage where temperatures went down as low at -25c. This 44 year old C3 wants to get going!

I also own a torch red 1977 corvette.I bought it over tw0 years ago,I have spent over 14000 dollars.I had everything done professionally,i do not have thr expertise to do it myself.I had new tires, new brakes, long tube headers, flowmaster 40 exhaust,High performance intake,New rear leaf springs, shocks, tuneup, new wires, new water pump, timing chain, electrical wiring harness under the hood.valve covers, air cleaner, many other things i do not remember. Its a head turner where ever i go.If i go to a restaurant,it always draws a crowd. The gas mileage is terribble, but i did not buy an econobox. You need to take your car out several times a week, weather permitting,Worst thing for a car like that is let it sit.Keep those videos coming,I will watch them for sure russ.

That's great and your car sounds really nice. This is a big summer for my C3 and I've got lots of work planned and on the go. Everything from new front suspension, new steering control valve, new steering cylinder, underside refresh, shocks, springs. New belts. It's going to be fun! Yes, the torch red is a really nice color and head turner for sure!

Right on! That's so cool. I have not has my C3 for that long, but still have my first brand new car that I bought when I was 25 years old...the 1987 Honda CRX. I'm so happy I kept it over the years.

I'd love to live in places like Florida or other warm places in the US or Canada (Not to many warm places 365 days in Canada though).

Hey man so the way youre vet starts is the same way mine does and the it high idles around 1500 rpms until its finally warm enough to kick down. My question is what happens if you try and put it in gear while its still in high idle. Will it not go anywhere cuz mine wont move and im wondering if i have to sit there for like 10 min each time i cold star it. Is that a normal thing? Otherwise the car refuses to kick down. It will only kick down when it decides it wants to lol. Thanks

Good question. Mine will always high idle if the engine is started when it is cold and after a minute or two, the kickdown works and it quickly goes into normal idle after that. But to answer your question, yes mine will go in gear at high idle , but when in gear the car will want to accelerate faster than normal without any pressure on the gas pedal. It doesn't take mine too long to warm up to the stage where the kick down will work. Good luck with your C3, each one is unique and overall awesome!
