I remember going to the trails then getting chased by the cops on the way home. The RM250 doesn’t idle on its own, you have to have your hand on the throttle. The idea is if you go down on bike it shuts off. Great times!! Grew up on RM80, went to RM125 and eventually the RM250. Kaplan mentioned RM 100, don’t remember Suzuki making that but maybe I’m mistaken, I did hit my head a lot back then when riding....lol

@jessejarzabski5076
@jessejarzabski5076 3 года назад
any carburated bike can idle if u want..u can raise the carb slide up a hair from you throttle adjuster on the bars or raise it by the top cap brass nut can be turned up or down to raise idle speed cuz thats all the actual idle screw does...its in the carb bodyt at almost 45 degree angle and when you turn in it pushes up on the slide the farthere you go in....so 3 ways to mitigate the idle issues w old smokers and bikes alike.... i made my rm250 1978 model idle by doing just those things above

I bought a 1977 RM-125 in 1981 from a friend. It had wore out rings and lots of play in the crank/rod. I cracked the case and rebuilt the entire engine. No RU-vid back then. After I had it together, I hand ported the head and installed a racing reed. That thing was fast. I was riding canal roads in Idaho when I ran a short way onto a gravel county road. A county cop lit me up and I ran 1/8 mile to a farm field road. The irrigation water had flooded a patch of mud 25 feet wide, I hit it and almost wrecked but landed on dry ground. The county cop waved at me to come to him. He didn’t dare drive his car thru that mud. Haha. My bike was really hot so I had to make sure it didn’t die. You can never restart a hot air cooled 2 stroke. He was calling for help on his radio and I waved good bye as he madly gestured “come here” and I raced away! I hid in a dug out area along a canal. I could hear the cops racing around for an hour! Lol my bike cooled and I started it and idled home to keep the noise down. I bet that Canyon County Sheriff Deputy used some colorful language on my behalf! Lol

I got my first bike when I was 13 years old it was a Suzuki TS 125 and I rode it for a couple of years and got rid of it and then got me a Suzuki TM 125 to ride until I was 19 when I got gif of it and never got another one and I just wish I had one of those bike back I love to smell of old two strokes bikes.
