Just wanna say that these videos inspired me to buy my 1981 FJ40 in same color. Just brilliant overview of a complete rebuild.

Having your dad and uncle helping you was really something! I am sure you will have fond memories of the build for a very long time! I have a 71 FJ40 in Texas and your videos are really inspiring! So thank you for sharing.

Looks like my old beastie used to look!! I sold mine in 1997 after some rust issues, and cost of running it, she was bought brand new from Theiss Toyota in Townsville Qld in 1977 by my Dad, I then purchased it from him and obtained almost 4 x rollover on the speedometer!! She did some massive miles, she was somewhat modified, having a port and polished head, huge Holley 450 Carburettor installed and a complete set of stainless steel extractors to boot!! Munroe Wyllie Pump Up Shock absorber system, custom built RHS heavy duty bullbar, she could mow down small saplings without missing a beat, good for Cape York Trips and everything in between!! A set of "Toyo" tyres which I believe I never replaced for almost 13 years from original installation!! Never wore out!! She was in the colour you are using, and I like yourself, did a complete breakdown of the old girl one year. I did the whole job of breaking down the vehicle completely by myself, and rebuilding after a 2 pack epoxy paint job was carried out, all within 2 weeks!! The vehicle had a marine grade black rubberised waterproofing compound sprayed all over the chassis, and undersides of the major body components, this not only prevented potential rust and water issues underneath, but also served as sound deadening from road noise!! So sorry she has gone, I understand you now need a bank loan, just to find one in running order?? Thank you for the video

Congratulations on a job well done giving this FJ a second turn at life and documenting it so well. Your pride of work and gratitude for your community comes through in the video. Any person would be fortunate to be humbled by this work and earn the ability to drive a restored FJ like this. Well done all around!

Congrats, buddy! It was a fantastic job, and now, the piece of art is ready for 50 years more of adventures. Happy to hear about your father and uncle working with you; now you have lots of memories to share with the next generation. Greetings from Chile.

I had a 1978 that I completely restored. It was red and is still my most favorite car I ever owned. I sold it over 30 years ago and still regret it! Mine how ever had the steering wheel on the proper side of the car! LOL!

Damn! Wish I had kept my old FJ40. Can't believe I actually gave it away (in a very rusty state). Even my old Lada Niva is worth about 5 times what I sold it for now 😆

Damn it looked sooooo sweet cruising West Coast Drive bro, nearly brought a tear to my eye haha so good!!! I love that you did this with your family, my old man was an expert panel beater and fabricator and a mechanic, he grew up old school on the tools but had no desire to share any of that knowledge with me sadly, me never showed me a thing. I’m teaching myself and putting my skills from other trade background to use but I will be passing on to my son everything I know. We will be building together and you guys were an inspiration. Enjoy that beige beast and say Gday to Angry Dad and Uncle Steve haha

I found a 1974 FJ40 with 70k miles for $6k, some rusting/holes, no brakes, rotted tires, needing an entire overhaul, but comes with a lot of the new parts needed. Clutch, frame, roof, front doors open and close fine, all glass is good... Sound like a good project car or a disaster?

Fantastic work mate, you are a great inspiration. Did you end up replacing any engine parts? Also, how thick is the rubber you used between the panels? Enjoy your beautiful rig mate, hope you can make some amazing memories in it.
@AngryMackAdventures
@AngryMackAdventures 2 года назад
Hey mate, the engine had some work done to it prior to buying (new head, rebuilt carby) and i put a reconditioned radiator and extractors on also, not much but enough! rubber is only a few mm thick! thanks for watching :)
