Chris you killed it sir!! Engine fires right up and runs smooth 🔥 🔥. You got after it. Engine out, refreshed, painted, back in, rewired and fired straight up!!! Yesssir!! Great Job! Cant wait for a driving video!!!
Also from the Houston area! I have a 260Z with the 280 engine and the wiring is an absolute mess! This has given me hope that I can simply the wiring. Previously I had no idea what I was going to do with it (currently I have a alligator clip that I have to connect to get the engine to start) but now I feel comfortable enough to start getting getting it in the right direction.
Great vids Chris. No bs, no music, just skills and common sense. I like the way you do stuff. That oil filter BTW, seems like it doesn't have an anti-drain back valve in, as its always empty. I'd recommend changing that for one with a valve

Just light oil. Like mystery oil or auto trans fluid. It's just to keep the piston from flying up it moves more gradual helping torque I took the diagram to an office Depot had them blow it up to a poster for under 20$. The fuel injection harness is on driver's side all the lights and accessories are on the left passenger side with a few cross overs. The head light turn signal switch GROUND the turn signals and headlights,( it's a Japanese wiring thing) And those early carbs are great. They never had the advanced electronic ignition, that makes this combo pretty bullet proof as you can see. Great to hear it run. Old Datsuns are like old Japanese motorcycles. Go thru the basics. Redo everybody's stupid fixes and they always run!
i found a complete original 240Z engine with with trans and the same carbs .... i might build it because the shorter stroke is supposed to rev faster.. what is your opinion on that?
Just out of curiosity did you also run the line to the fuel return? The reason I ask is because I recently bought a 280z and the guy did a carburetor conversion but I cant figure out if they ran the return.
no... on the fuel pump i used that is not a thing.. my return was blocked 100%.. watch ronald finger, he unclogs it with denatured alcohol.. the return is only needed with fuel injection...
@@chriscraft77022 ah OK thanks for the reply. I seem to be experiencing vapor lock on mine so I am trying to find where the original return line goes so I can put a pressure regulator with a return to see if that will fix my issues.
1 was flooding and I didnt have time to rebuild them. DO NOT MESS WITH THE FLAT TOPS.. i bought kits for them.. I will mess with the flat tops in the future but they are a pain in the ass
