"Everyone, even the most gullible, must have suspected a hoax."
Nationwide reporter Bernard Clark reports on Ginger Baker - the prodigiously talented but notoriously volatile drummer behind Cream, Blind Faith, Ginger Baker's Air Force and Baker Gurvitz Army - who has shockingly retired from the music world to breed horses.
Baker was introduced to polo while he was living in Lagos, Nigeria and - much to his surprise - he fell in love with the sport and was enchanted by the horses. For the past two years, Ginger has focused on developing his own polo club - his team, the Dragonflies, have already won the Assam Cup - but his ambition is to create the best polo side in Britain.

Tremendous. I was supposed to see him perform in Bournemouth a few years ago. When we got there another band started playing. He was ill and we hadn't been informed that he wouldn't be on. I was gutted - still am. As it turns out, that was my last chance to see him. He didn't appear to be a particularly pleasant individual much of the time but oh what a drummer!

I was lucky enough to see Ginger at the 2005 London reunion concert. And again at the 2008 Zildjin tribute concert. He was amazing at both. I suspect much of Ginger’s bad temper was due to drug and alcohol use in early days. Then health problems in later days. Just my theory.

I love this piece of footage that is without a doubt one his most cordial interviews ever given cause Ginger could be brutal,and there is no doubt in my mind that he was conscience that bad publicity to polo by himself would be catastrophic so that aided in his temperance.I love Ginger,the good,the bad,and downright ugly.I would have taken a busted nose to meet him and then asked,"now can we hang out and talk for a bit"?This closing scene here would be the perfect ending for a autobiographical movie.I know about beware of......... and thought it was pretty good for a man with such little footage to compile to make a whole production.Once again....if only?Love ya Ginger,RIP

I love Ginger Baker, his drumming and love of horses; but what kind of polo grounds was his club playing on? The grass was so tall that you could hardly see the white ball they were hitting!
