Had one of these back in the day and really loved the toy. Recently picked up another one and decided to clean it up to display in my Game Cave :) Toy obtained from Blakes Toy Chest in Lexington NC - / blakestoychest
Fantastic restoration man. I never owned this vehicle but it is a great toy. I have a boxed POTF gray TIE. Cool too but no light and sound. Good job man.
You just turned trash into treasure buddy! Looks amazing! You have got to set up some kind of Green Screen for outer space and make some home made Star Wars sets? PLEASE!?! That lazy susan works beautifully until then though.
The look of the original movies is not retro bright, so, imo, a good choice. I guess the style in the movies Forbidden Planet, or 2001 is more bright but no toys to collect for those two films :-(
How in the worl did you remove the laser LED plate. I need to replace my tie LED. I tried heating the epoxy with a heat gun but no go. I really don’t want to start cutting around it with an exacto knife. How did you do it, pal?
2 things. Firstly the chair needs to go in before you put the shell back together so it can raise and lower. It slots into grooves. Second you’re supposed to push the buttons down to raise the connector tabs before ramming the wings inside so you don’t break the tabs.
Ya, I know about the chair. I did put it back in before putting the halves together, did not show it in the video. It popped out due to broken tabs on the back. I had a note in the video talking about it being broken :P About the wings, its been over 40 years since I had my original, I had forgotten about pushing in the connector tabs before putting the wings on like the manual describes...sorry for not being a poindexter :P
You have fairly decent videos BUT you don’t show a whole lot which may be why you only have 13 comments and not many views. For instance people want to see how you get the LED face plate off in case you have to install a new LED. Also, you mentioned you got the yellowed canopy glass fairly clear. Again, what was the process to get it clear???
I really dont care how many views or comments I get :) Its a hobby for me :). I used peroxide and a black light to help take the yellowing out of the plastic. I typically dont do detail videos as people get all REEEEEEE if I do something different than what they believe is right :P
