Oh my gosh that takes me back. I bought one new with my newspaper route money. $685.00 if I remember correctly. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the video.

My Dad bought me one in 1979. I wish I still had it.

That's sweet! Beautiful restoration. Those were great race bikes back then, except you had to gusset the frame in a few spots.

I had a 1980 in the "bumblebee" yellow and black trim the same as this one. You are right...it was wicked fast and a very powerful 80cc bike.

My 1st bike. Once you put Boyesen reeds in them they went way better. I went from that to an 84 KX80.. Big difference !

Great shape and good compression. Easier to start than a Bull Taco and very nimble on the dirt track.

Beautiful resto. Never understood why America always had yellow models and here in Australia ours were white after the D model

Awesome little bike my brother had one that would flat out out run my 1983 yz125. Interested in selling?

Your right for some reason back in the 70s and 80s the 125s and 80s could both be built to the max or straight stock flattrack racing and the 80s would blow away the 125s ! And some used to race in the 125 class with 80s and win !

@@andyheck7824 My cousin and I owned a 1980 Yamaha YZ80 "bumblebee" yellow and black from new until 1989 when we foolishly sold it. Our bike would easily keep up with and often beat larger displacement 100cc and 125cc 4-stroke enduro trail bikes. It was extremely powerful and wicked fast for a 80cc. I would like to have it back today as a old man. I would still ride it and have fun. I had many motorcycles, scooters and a ATV in my life. That Yamaha YZ80 I liked better than all of them, even my 2006 Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob and 1998 Polaris Sportsman 500 I used to own.
