Absolutely love the 4th generation Group 5 Silhouette racers - All of them! And even though it didn't perform particularly well, the Lancia Stratos Turbo was my favorite. Also loved the oddballs like the Fiat X1/9 Icsunonove Dallara, and the Zakspeed Lotus Europa... Thanks for the video upload!
Same here. It was never the race winning car, but damn seeing one 🤤 ( and i did as a kid,,, i was 13 in 1979 ) well almost the first time something grew in my pants. With a substantial lotto win, well for sure the kind of car i would be looking to buy and drive. Not long after i tried to sit in a Lambo LP400, but nope,,,, just nope and even then it was a too small car for me ( the pantera probably are too ) LP 400 just a horrible ugly car.
Everything Clarskon said about the sound of the Ascari A10 has been valid about this car decades ago: 1) It's like Victorian Manchester is trying to escape from the exhaust 2) Unleashing Brunelian fury... 3) About the lack of radio, "you wouldn't hear it anyway over the sound of men in stove-pipe hats furiously smelting" I think it just sounds like it could start an earthquake!. Now, this, the Ascari A10 and Saleen S7-R are now my favorites? Which one would i pick? That's like asking me to choose between Monica Bellucci, Courtney Cox, and Angelina Jolie! Impossible!
I need this Pantera..... it's beautiful.... I was always a fan of the early Pantera's, the street ones lol, and never liked the later ones with all the bodywork...but this.... I'll take this one, paint it all a glorious shade of metallic bronze, get some nice leather interior made for it, and make it my daily driver 😅 I couldn't imagine it with taller gearing, it gets up to 260kmh so fast and he literally just has to keep his foot in one position to not overrev the damn thing because it wants to just keep going 🤣
This is probably the most beautiful track car I've ever seen. Always liked the Pantera, but this video made me slightly uncomfortable because the car's just too amazing. I'd sell my kids to buy one of these, if I had any kids left.
That has got to be the quietest race car ever. Open that puppy up and let it breathe. I’ve heard Panteras before and the sound had a lot more authority than that.
Gabriel you have no idea what you are speaking of and thinking of..are you high?? It's a classic machine, they gave it more classic thing to it...it's in a Dicky moe mode..
Group 5 is just something else Its basically what Sillouette cars are inspired from. Wild, wide, planted. With WILD engines to back it up as well. Peak, normality-madness
a ground effect Pantera was also created to compete in the Australian championship. It won every race it ever took place in before being banned and it was called "la pantera bianca", which translates to the white panther in italian
@@lorenzogaluppi181 Hadn't heard of this, nor that anyone had had a go at a proper ground effect effort. Hideous and absolutely thrilling, I love it, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
@@DIARRHEA-PANIC Some racetracks have like a few days a year where the noise limitations are not as restrictive. At the 24h races at Spa-Francorchamps and Nürburgring for example.
the pantera will forever hold a special place in my heart as it was the first "fast" car I ever had a ride in. it was a 1978 and my ride was probably in 1984? I would have been 9 at the time. I remember laughing uncontrollably the whole time. We probably never exceeded 100mph, but it was an amazing experience at that age.
Those older cars, you FELT the speed. You almost never get to drive 100 MPH on public roads, and that's for the best, but it means that a car that's fun and feels fast at 45 MPH is the one I'd rather drive every day than an insulated 500 HP car that's like riding in a catcher's mitt that's sitting on an overstuffed chair.
Grid 2019 & Grid Legends also have Gr.5 cars in limited numbers. If you want to play wide range of Gr.5 cars, play modded AC & GTR2. GT7 is too busy with VGTs lol
Assetto corsa has a fairly huge group 5 collection if ur willing to look hard enough. If anyone reading this needs help finding anything let me know I might have it.
Always liked and respected the Pantera. It's a combination that will never happen again. A sleek Italian body with an old, carbed Ford V8. Had no idea it ever went racing but I'm glad to know it did
@@Maximus20778 I think you need to look again. More variety than any other period as it was pre-wind tunnel for most teams. Not as pretty as the sixties, but you never knew what was coming next.
This is something I have never said in my life... This video is put together unbelievably well. Someone knows how to cover a day of track time like I have never experienced, not even on national television.
long live argentina Long live Alejandro de Tomaso, Alejandro de Tomaso was an Argentine racing driver and businessman. His name is sometimes seen in an Italianized form as Alessandro de Tomaso. He participated in two Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, making his debut on January 13, 1957. He scored no points in the championship.
Yeah there was a few GR4/ 5 Panteras and they all seem to be drastically different. Theres one in Australia which looks like it could of been a group C car with ite level of modification.
Superb car, beautiful single throttle bodies, mammoth exhaust manifold with inverted channels, pity that the fifth gear was a bit short for the straight
The Pantera was always one of my favorite cars on the video game GT Legends. That game was a great way to get kids interested in classic cars and racing.
I remember when I was 8 years old, I went to a car show and my dad freaked out. He was like "Oh my god! it's a pantera!" and the guy who owned the car was like "Ya! Would you like to sit in it?" (gesturing to me) and I just said "no" my dad damn near smacked me and said "That's a once in a life time thing man, you gotta do it!" I ended up sitting in it, really cool car!
A) that's the best I've ever seen a Pantera handle. They are usually twitchy as shit. B) that can't be an original bodied car. Maybe just a shell at best.
What a beautiful machine. Super Silhouette/Gr. 5 cars are some of my all-time favorite race cars. Idk that I've ever seen one that I didn't think looked badass. Thanks for this one Bozzy 🤙
