The VIN numbers are correct on that cab, it was originally mated to a 2WD chassis. Someone took a 4WD chassis and extended it to drop that clubcab on top of.

Grille is 77/78(78marker lights) cab and dash appear to be 73/74. Drivers doors been changed there for the vin won't match the cab. It's definitely a pieced together truck. Has an auto column and it's a Manual trans. The fuel filler being on the cab is also proof its not a 79(cab at least) cab has a data stick that has the vin number as well. You are correct the D means 2wd and W means 4wd. CID is cast on drivers side of block(carb indicates its a 318). If it has Drum front brakes its likely a 74 if the frame and cab belong to each other. If it has Disc brakes it's a 75 up D60. The lockouts never came on 75-79 as they used the Full-time 4wd NP203 transfercase.
@richardbates2367
@richardbates2367 Год назад
Some 76 custom model dodge trucks have the 72-74-75 dash also
@richardbates2367
@richardbates2367 Год назад
Late 76-77 are like the 78 grille except the amber turnsignal lenses 78 are clear with amber bulbs and I'm guessing it's pieced together I'd say that they were building a rollback
@MrHotrodharry
@MrHotrodharry Год назад
@@richardbates2367 considering the new model year has always been released before the actual year is present your incorrect. Late 76 would be the following years IE 77 which is the grille on the truck period. The Amber marker light didn't start till Feb of 78 so the first several months that the 78 model year was produced and sold in late 77 and January of 78 they were Clear not Amber. It's clearly pieced together given the description I posted above.

I learned how to drive on a 74 dodge 200 club cab. Love them old Dodges. There aren't too many people now who would want to drive them. They aren't very quiet to drive especially with lock out hubs. And not the greatest ride quality. That one is more than likely a 1 ton. And it's in great shape for it's age.

My friend Mr. Sam TAFLINGER pulled a 1940 dump truck out of a ditch. That’s been there for 40-50+ years. 6-volt electric positive ground flat head FORD 6 cylinder engine. Wouldn’t start then he replaced the fiber gear ⚙️ on the camshaft. And retired the entire truck and got it a running. One other thing is that he had to learn how to shift gears with a transmission with no synchronizers to help it shift gears more smoothly. What I’m trying to say is it doesn’t matter how long it sets if you know how to work on any engine you can get it to run even if you have to Work on the carburetor too. God bless you good luck and I know you got it running.

Ok I'm a dodge truck guy I have a lot of them from 72-77 The reason the vin on the door does not match is the door has been changed. The title followed the door good trick to make it a usable truck. Find alot of them with bad or no titles. some states make it near impossible to file for lost or a new title.

Valve seals are gone in that 318,. I have a 318 from 1998 it started to smoke at acceleration it was concerning.. then it got so bad that at every red light it would leave a cloud of blue smoke.. so i tore into it and removed the valve covers and valve springs and sure as hell my valve seals were done.. so i changed them out and no issues after that.. you will need a leak down tool to hold the valves up once the springs are removed. I also put a cloyes timing chain kit on it and timed the distributor with my multi meter.. runs almost like a new truck.. dodges are well built.
