not really. i've owned a 1978 cm185t for 15 years, and i do my own maintenance. topping up the fork oil takes 10 minutes. adjusting the valves and breaker points is a 1 hour job once a year. cleaning and lubing the chain takes 1/2 hour. wheel bearings are sealed. the only thing that sucks is cleaning and polishing the spoked wheels and all of the chrome, that can take hours.... gets 80 miles per gallon at a steady 60mph.
I had one when i was 11. Rode it like a dirt bike cause it was all i had. I beat the piss out of it for 3 yrs with out ever doing any type of maintenance on it. Never had any problems, sold it for $50 when throttle cable broke. This was the exact bike. Sure brings back memories!!!
