It's been over 40 years since I changed out a power steering pump and I thank you because you're video was the best and made my job R & R much easier!!
tons of DIY videos out there. congrats on making this. its zero BS straight to the point. No mumbling, self promoting, camera shaking, stumbling, mixed metaphors etc. easily one of them best DIYS I've seen in ages. if your ever in my neighborhood I owe you a beer.
Big thanks from San Antonio! Was trying to figure this one out. Trying to adjust the pulley because it was a hair out of track and it was throwing belts. Come to find out it has the same pulley slip like in the video. Could not figure out how to get that pulley off...now I do thanks to you. Subscribed! Time to get a new one💪
everything i wanted to know, YES! you can pull the Power Steering Pump and pulley off without taking every fing thing out. Thank You for your time and info.. 1990 5.8L 351W Bronco :)
That is the exact same kit that we used on my Dodge Dakota a few years back when we had to cut the fan shroud and everything to get the pulley off. They might have even sold you the same one we rented back then, :P
My pulley is doing that walking also. I’m going to be ordering the same pump and belt (I want to bypass smog as well) does the remanufactored pump have any whine to if
Ok I did this and I have an issue with it I did everything the same as you but when I place the wrench up agents then frame and start spinning the 21 mil it the pulley is spinning with it. I tried holding it but it spins in my hands. I don’t know who it won’t go
What is the pulley beneath that pulley called? Mine has a terrible grind against the plate between the pulley and the bracket holding it all on. My truck is an Eddie Bauer 1996 Ford F-150 with a 300 inline 6. It's been an amazing truck and I'd like to keep it maintained I just lost the belt today I suspect the power steering pulley and the pulley beneath it. - possibly the smog control pulley as well as it squeaks but the power steering whines so I'm sure it needs to be replaced.
Ik its a Old comment but if you take off the nut where the pressure hose connects on the side of the reservoir the reservoir wiggles off with some prying and pulling and jiggling
Is it, At ALL POSSIBLE TO BYPASS A POWER STEERING FOR A 2005 FORD FIVE HUNDRED? IT'S COMPLICATED, BUT I MADE UP MY MIND. IT'S COMMIN OFF. CAN I BUY A SPECIAL BELT IS REALLY WHAT I WANNA KNOW?
1995 Ford F-150 whiney power steering. 300 4.9 lt. Replace hydraulic lines, steering box, pulley, tensor pully, serpentine belt, and have tried 4 remanufactured power steering pumps. I bought a vacuum bleeder kit for my pump. Cannot get whining out of steering. I use type F atf per my manual. I am just trying to find someone with answers. Thanks for any reply.
These pumps are notorious whiners, I replaced mine along with the lines, I flushed all the old fluid out (atf) and refilled with ATP synthetic steering fluid and it has been very quiet now just over 2 yrs
@@rodcon66 i am happy that it was quiet, I have heard from many others that you never know if the pump will whine or not. They still work fine, but is annoying as a blind man on a flying horse can hear you coming from a mile. I was due to replace the pump since I did a bunch of work to the engine, I found some information somewhere that suggested it may be quieter with the clear (greenish) synthetic fluid. The fluid definitely cost more than atf but I thought I would try and with new lines going on, I flushed the steering box with the new fluid prior to installing the new parts. I was pleasantly surprised at how the pump made no sounds afterwards, and now 2 yrs later is still quiet. From what I understand is you get a rebuilt pump and its 50/50 whether they groan or not. They have a very noticible sound those pumps
