Good to see some 80's cars represented. That was the final decade of unique car styling. Getting into the 90's, most cars started looking alike with the aero shaping.

It’s a good moment in this car’s life to be captured by an enthusiast collector. It will guarantee that it will live a long life for future fans. It’s a tough one to restore at this time if it needed a ton of work, but now, in this condition it can be saved. Nice one, Lou, thanks.

I remember these cars when they were new, and have always considered them among the most beautifully styled automobiles of the 1980's. The lovely yellow paint is a stark contrast to todays boring black, white and silver cars so prevalent today. I share Robert's opinion about the Buick Rivera being even prettier, (the sloped grille) but of course it isn't a Cadillac! He scored a real find didn't he?

Cadillac had some great cars back in their day. This Eldorado is a shining example of quality and excellence. The front wheel drive setup is perfect, and the engine sounds healthy. It has extremely low mileage on it, considering how old it is. It is in mint condition, and still looks brand new.

This car brings back so many memories!!! My Dad had a 1981 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz!!! His car was burgundy with the stainless steel top with glass moonroof and burgundy leather interior. It was a very pretty car for sure. My girlfriend and I discovered that the front passenger seat would recline nearly flat, lol, great memories made in that car, lol. That one looks very nice in yellow. By the way, Mom had a 1980 Cadillac Seville sedan, not the bustle back. Her car was white with powder blue interior, yep, had some fun in that one also. Lol. Thanks for the memories!!! 🙂

Years ago, I owned a 1980 Eldorado Biarritz as a daily driver. I want to say it had a 350 Oldsmobile motor in it? One of the most solid, bulletproof engines GM had in its arsenal, and yet they decided to get fancy just two years later with their 8,6,4 and then the infamous Hook & Tow 4100. Anyway, 1980 seemed to be a good year for Cadillac.

1980 was the last good Eldorado . 1981 had to the infamous V8-6-4 and 1982-84 had the aluminum V8. After that, the car didn’t deserve to be called an Eldorado.

That is one beautiful car! Those were a perfect size! The right color and equipment. This was the last year before they went with the troublesome engines. 1981 has the one year only 4-6-8 engines. In 1982 they came out with the horrible HT-4100 engines and things went downhill after that. This is a PRIME example that is in stunning condition!

Another great find. And close to home! I never got used to GM scaling down their cars in 1978, but SIX DECADES later they've turned into treasurers. I also thought i'd never like any car in yellow (too many taxis in nyc) but this is tastefully, even masterfully crafted. Also, nice job filming it (lighting is superb).

The large GM cars (B bodies and C bodies) were scaled down in 1977, GM mid sized cars were scaled down on 1978. GM E bodies (Eldorado, Riviera and Toronado) were downsized in 1979. They phased the downsizing in over three production years.

¡Saludos cordiales Lou!

Hey big bro Lou!! On this Labor Day, Robert's beautiful Cadillac Eldorado is certainly fitting. And I just gotta say, big bro-this is one Italian creampuff of a car! Am I right, man?! Beautiful (esp in that color combo) and stately and plush and distinctly feminine-delicious to us guys, as well ;). Ya know, my highschool buddy Ralphie's Dad worked at Vito's Italian bakery on Ave U here in Brooklyn, and I ocassionally see the old man there when I pass by. He always says "Keep those floppy sneakers on your stocking feet, Johnny boy!" cause me and Ralph both had a hard time keeping our sneakers on our tubesocked stocking feet when we were wiseass (somewhat delinquent lol) JV baseball boys, chasing girls and working on his older bro's Camaro and making our parents somewhat nuts. And then he gives me an Italian creampuff 😁. I could TOTALLY see this Eldorado driving down Ave U and stopping traffic. The old skool Italian Americans would LOOOOOOVE her. So what kinda cream puff do you want, big bro-custard or French cream (whipped cream and sugar)? Light flakey pastry crust on both, like eating air....And I know this ain't no Superbird, but do ya think this Caddy would have your little bro in his stocking feet quick?! Whaddaya think, Lou? Thanks for all you do, man. :) JV Johnny

That’s the last decent Cadillac-engineered motor. The 368 WITHOUT cylinder deactivation (V8-6-4). The V8-6-4 would be for the 1981 model, be discontinued for how bad it was, then replaced with the HT4100 which was worse. All the while the Olds 350 Diesel was also available. That trifecta of motors were partially, directly responsible for GM going broke and nearly extinct in 2008. So whoever ordered this Cadillac when new they bought the right one at the right time.

Growing up in Florida, I saw quite a few examples of this model. This color combination was very popular among retirees there. There were quite a few different models that came in this color combination, but in my opinion, the Eldorado was the most appealing. It has that "Pop!" ( As did the Riviera, AND the Toronado, which were similar ) Thank you Lou, a very nostalgic Cadillac!! ✌🏳️‍🌈✌

Finally an E Body! Robert was right, the Riviera was the best looking of the three E Bodies. That being said, the Eldo is close and the Toro a distant third. The issue I had with my 85 Riv was that it looked modern, especially in size, width and length to current cars on the road. Sure it had old car touches, glass headlights, wire wheels, "Landau" roof, and decent amount of chrome. My fave Eldos are Yellow and Navy with White interiors. AM/FM only!?! In a Cadillac? Yikes! Lou, I'm surprised you missed the tiny fins flanking the trunk, another old car touch.

Having owned both a 1975 Eldorado convertible and a 1984 Eldorado Biarritz convertible, I would be hard pressed to pick my favorite. The 1975 made the more “classic big car” Cadillac statement, but the 1984 is so much more refined and a pleasure to drive even with its quirky 4100 HT engine. The springtime yellow color combination has to be one of the most attractive available on this generation Eldorado in my opinion.

I USED to greatly poo-poo-dislike old duffer light yellow cars, UNTIL hit by SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder of dark and cloudy days of the cold half of the year. Then one November after a solid week+ of heavy clouds, I rode in a light yellow Caddy with sim sunshine yellow interior and my mood quickly lifted. I felt that almost immediately, it brought out the feeling of being enveloped in sunlight. I never forgot that and I would buy one sim now if I could. Very lucky man who jumped on this garage queen of garage queens and snapped it up. Enjoy just sitting in it after several dark heavy clouded days. Not green envy, sunlight yellow envy.

All of the Cadillacs shown in the brochure were modern takes on their namesakes from the late 60s and early 70s, while the Seville was a modern take on Cadillacs from the 40s, and in my opinion were done so well that most people don't notice it because there is a uniqueness to them. The Seville to me was super cool, but I get how many people might dislike them, prefer the other models. This whoe lineup were the last best cars that Cadillac made, and I was lucky enough to drive all of them while working for the service department of a Chevrolet Cadillac dealership during college in the late 80s. Being young and appreciative of these cars as I was I got a real kick out of adults coming up to me and commenting how much they lioed "my" car, which I would explain was not mine, but that they were right. So I totally get when owners in videos such as this one talk about people approaching them about their car. I also got to drive cars brought in to the affiliated Buick GMC dealership that was a short walk down the street. This Cadillac was the better choice over the Riviera, and definitely better than the Toronado. The Riviera was more sporty although very luxurious and classy looking. The Toronado struck me as a cross between the Riviera and Cadillac, but failed miserably in my opinion style wise. When I drove cars like the Corvette and IROC-Z I got jaw dropping looks from young people, but consternating looks from older people which I found to be funny. They were sometimes fun to drive, but the Cadillacs and other classy cars were built noticeably better, were more enjoyable to drive, obviously made me feel spoiled and in an odd way respected even though it was just for a few fleeting moments. The most fun and enjoyable job I ever had.

I was a Cadillac/Pontiac salesman in 79-80. I remember that yellow color well as well as the yellow leather interior in the Cadillac lineup. Even though this was the first generation of downsized Cadillacs, I feel those Cadillacs were still true/quality Cadillacs. I loved the Biarritz with that roof panel. The Eldorado is misleading in that it has the appearance of a smaller car than it actually is. Even being downsized in 79, this car really is a pretty big car. I was not a fan though of the facelift to the Seville with that chopped of rear. I still find this era of Eldorado very appealing and would be proud to own one as nice as this. Thanks to the owner and to Lou for this story.

1979 Eldorados looked like this too, but those had the Oldsmobile Rocket 5.7 liter V8 with EFI. My aunt had a 1979 Eldorado in Cotillion White with Carmine Red leather interior. I would say 1979 and 1980 Eldorados were the years to own in the this generation. The 1981 Eldorado had the 368 cu in V8 too with the cylinder deactivation module. When that module acted up, the dealer disconnected it and it did just fine.

This is such a beauty - a transition to the modern era yet it showed that Cadillac knew what made a car luxurious - somethig it cannot say these days with the garbage they build these days that are poorly styled inside and out; a shame since the chassis and engines are not bad, but nothing about a Cadihack (modern Cadillac) is worth spit in its hideous wrappings. I second the notion that it is nice to see something from the 1980's - I was 18 when this was new. I personally like the Cadillacs and Lincolns of this era even if they were downsized. Thank you for sharing this immaculate example of an era many want to forget.
