1.5.23. 💁🏻‍♂️I have to say that your channel is my favorite motorcycle content channel, even better than Allen Millyard’s™️ channel‼️ and I like his a lot⚠️

Very kind and I’m humbled. But Allen gets about 100 times the views I do, so he must be doing something better. Cheers.

@@MotoRestoFL to be fair.. he's been around a while.. and.. he does graft engines together like plants to make some crazy configurations.. you'll get there.. you do have some fine content..

@@MotoRestoFL 1.6.24. It’s not that Allen Millyard™️ does things better than you, it’s that he pulls off things that only a handful of people can do. You on the other hand, dive deeper into proper maintenance procedures for vintage machinery, that is the big difference, and why I prefer your channel over his, it’s more in line with what the average person is dealing with! His channel tickles the fancy! No knock on him it’s just yours is far more practical. And it helps that you are a natural like him on video, but you bring a funny flair to your video’s❗️ and as a sidenote, I really like how when you encounter a problem and there’s another issue that is a side issue. You will tackle that also because you subscribe to the philosophy “well I’m in here already”⚠️ that is what brings value to your viewership💁🏻‍♂️

That looks like the previous engine builder used Indian head gasket shellacked or Hylomar head gasket sealer. Hylomar does make a gasket cleaner remover solvent that you could try if you run into this again.

Hi There, I enjoy watching your videos and in all fairness I have learnt alot from them. As they say power is knowledge. I was watching the part regarding the cleaning of the engine casing and see where you have inserted rags to stop debris going into the engine. Like you said even, with the vacuum, small parts may fall in. How about making a nylon insert which is in two halfs, to allow to go around the connecting rod therefore, stopping and debris going in and also you could use a blow of gun as well. I look forward to all your upcoming videos and keep up the great work. 😉👍👍

You mean like soft nylon or like nylon sheet? Perhaps you can help me understand, it's a good idea, but I don't get what you mean.
@rd250dx1978
@rd250dx1978 2 месяца назад
If you machine a nylon disc the same diameter of the bores of the bike. Once you are happy with diameter, then you saw it in half, this will allow it to go around the connecting rod with a bit of trimming involved. Hopefully, that make sense now. 👍

I know the bloke that's doing the wheelie on the Vespa. Nice video.

They were running a slow ride contest with the balls on traffic cones and he did really well. At the end of one if his runs he celebrated with that wheelie.

It's hard to build these high performance engines with the parts quality we currently have.
@MotoRestoFL
@MotoRestoFL 7 месяцев назад
Which is why I won’t build them. Mainly because it’s above my capabilities, but I’ll do an OE rebuild anytime, assuming parts are available. I have great respect for people who can set up a performance build and degree cams and such. It’s black magic to me.

You might try a Rocaris 1" polishing/buffing wheel on a Dremel to clean the gasket surface. I've had gotten good results using them.

gasket removal is such a pain,are the bores good looks like scrapes 2,3,4,nice paint job
@MotoRestoFL
@MotoRestoFL 7 месяцев назад
Yea, #3 especially, you can't hardly feel them but that's not part of this job, can't do another top end rebuild on an engine done less than three years ago. I wasn't going to touch the bores or the pistons, unless I was replacing rings. Again, not part of this gig.

1980 had the updated cam chain head style? Square ends on the valve cover? I would say the engine has been changed in this to a later style head assembly.
@MotoRestoFL
@MotoRestoFL 7 месяцев назад
It doesn’t have square ends like the J motor. This is an A-4. Cam chain and associated components exactly the same as the ‘77 I was just into. Same everything. This is an aftermarket idler on top, that’s all.
@CWS1963
@CWS1963 7 месяцев назад
@@MotoRestoFL I noticed it had the old style rounded valve cover and from my Kaw dealership days thought it should have been the square one. I went online and looked and any pic of an a4 has the square cover, along with the finned points cover. Thought maybe the head had been exchanged for an older head. Not sure if you can just switch the covers? I'm getting old and my halfheimers is kicking in hard..lol

‘81 started the J motor bikes. I’m assuming they started building and selling them later in 1980 as an 81 model which is what you’re probably remembering. But that’s an assumption based upon my somewhat confused mental capacity.

The valve cover is from a 1978 1000 and was all ready clearanced for the cams that's why it was used.
