1980 Yamaha XS850 

This bike needs a comeback. Exactly the same but with EFI.

The xs850 holds great memories for me my dad stopped riding bikes when i was born so when I turned 17 I was allowed a 125cc for the road am from the uk. That sparked the itch for my dad to get another and it was the xs850 he got we together slowly cleaned it up and he finally gave me a shot of it and it was so good felt like a rolls Royce compared to my Chinese 125 lol so that was me I passed my test and that was it my dad let me drive his xs850 for a few months until my bandit was ready love the xs

I did a tuneup on one of those in my first apprentice year in ‘93. Such a cool sound.

I remember the midnight specials, beautiful bikes, would love to own one.

I just discovered this video. Never seen it before. I has no clue that Yamaha made XS 850's. Jr's buddy that owned this bike, sure took good care of it. Between the paint color of the bike, and the beautiful graphics on the gas tank, this bike definitely looks stunning! Has a nice exhaust note too. 😊

That’s a beautiful bike! I hope mine turns out looking at least half as good. I have that same bike and going to start working on it this winter. Not a mechanic and have never done anything like this but here I go. My first was I believe a 650 special but was stolen like 27 years ago.

My dad had the 1979 XS special ... before Carter emissions controls. Fast as hell. beautiful bike. Like Ken says knarwly rumble! Gotta get one.

I bought a new 1981 XS850 in 1982 ... red & chrome ... great memories.

He straight up said get out of the road!! Hahaha

I have the same bike. Everytime I watch this video I want to bring mine up and let you rebuild my engine and tune my carbs 😂

1:25 "The only 3 cylinder 4 stroke Yamaha ever made..." except for the Tracer 900 & Tracer 9, MT09, FJ09...but, yes. There were 2 bikes I lusted over at that time, Honda's V45 Sabre & the Yamaha XS850. Now if I had the time, money & space I'd be starting a collection with those 2.

Great lo9king bike. This was one of my favorites back in my younger days when I was riding dirt bikes as a youngster.My first bike was a 71 or 72 JT60. Then upgraded to the 90. My riding buddy had a 73 GT80, my other buddy a Suzuki TS75 and the other a YZ80. The YZ whipped us all. 😂
