Doc returns to pick up the 1981 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce for the 5 hour drive home after some winter work that included the install of a SS Sports Exhaust System, Performance Brake Kit and Koni Adjustable Shocks. We finish up a few small projects and detail it out for delivery day.

Good afternoon Dave! I just saw this video pop up. I am up in the Southern Oregon Cascades at a lake in my camp trailer in the middle of one hell of a thunderstorm! But I have a cell signal and my personal "hot spot" so I can watch your vids. Good show Dave! Good show! Jerry 😎👍

A few drops of two-part epoxy on that trim piece.

Was thinking about that as well Bruce. Good idea if it loosens again.

I can see how a rattle like that could be annoying

Agreed. Not very good engineering from Alfa on this piece.

Bringing home the 250 any time soon ?
@cheftush
@cheftush Год назад
I think within the next couple of weeks. I’ll enjoy the TR3A for a little bit and then bring the 250 home. I need to tinker on that a bit as well….getting pretty close to the 500 mile mark and a head re-torque.

Decades ago I replaced the bumpers with fiberglass look-alikes on my '79 Alfa Spider from Shankle. I bet I dropped 80 lbs or so from the ends of the car. I love the Nardi style shift knob on my '79 that had the shift pattern on the top. I wish I could get those today. I don't see a sump guard but it is personal choice. I'm probably going to replace the new stock springs I put on my '74 with Rally Springs just to get a little more bad road capability. I hate hitting the sump guard.

Nice finish to a cool car! I see those in junkyards on occasion, some in decent shape. Will the vacuum servo on the air filter intake still work if a critter pushes the copper screen in? The third brake light is not pretty, but a necessary (evil) as there are so many SUVs these days. A low car becomes invisible if a higher vehicle is behind it. I am considering having several 3rd brake lights on my TR6, only using one, depending on driving conditions. One on roll bar, one for trunk lid, if soft top is up, and one on hardtop

Hi Jim, yes, the Servo will still work.

Hi Dave, I used to have an ex USA one in that colour seriously regret selling it, was running on webers, changed the bumpers to euro spec and fitted headlamp covers, with a blue hood and black trim, it was a good car only let me down once when a replacement engine mount collapsed trashing the radiator and bottom hose
@cheftush

Hi Carl, I think that might be the next plan for this car when the SPICA Is on its last legs…conversion to Webers. Doc would like to do the bumper conversion as well at some point and we’ve been looking at the used market to potentially find something useable. There are new aftermarket bumper kits but they are quite expensive…

Catching up on your old videos and just watched you getting it serviced and running. Now it’s gone.

Serious soft top kit! I hope you can use it on the vinyl tops you have also? Doc has the best mid-late 70's S2 Alfa that I've ever seen, especially interior wise. The plastics don't usually last very long, and that dash and console look great. It's been a great journey with that car, bringing it back to life!
@cheftush

It’s Docs kit so he will be able to get some home use out of it. Agreed John, the interior is very nice and the dash is perfect. No a crack or blemish on it.

Thanks. Doc made the 5 hour drive home safely. Probably the longest drive that car has had in a very very long time…

Hi Dave, could Doc choose to covert to Chrome bumpers if he wanted too? (Or is the surrounding bodywork of a different profile?)
@cheftush
@cheftush Год назад
Hi Phil. Yes you can backdate the car but there are a few issues to overcome doing this…
