The Ghia ford's have always been the nicest Ford's, the interiors were/are comfortable and luxurious..there are no cars nowadays like the Cortina and Granada Ghia's
Amazing what turns up in barns / garages. I absolutely loved my Granada 2.8 Ghia X Estate in two tone Black and Royal Claret. These cars are worth their weight in gold. Comfortable to cruise in, a load lugger, the back could be turned into a double bed if one needed overnight accommodation. I really do miss mine. The rare metric size tyres were extremely expensive, that's if you could get hold of them. After 10yrs ownership I sold it to a guy who equally loved it and off to Bournemouth it went.
Thanks for the comment. It really makes me smile when cars bring back memories. We have a public footpath running through our farm and I'm often giving tours of our own cars to random strangers, who reminisce about their own memories of some of them.
I had a 2.8i ghia x estate for 14 years absolutely loved it it had a limited slip diff and went like shit of a shovel but you're right about the tyre's I believe you're only choice was Mitchelins and pricey
That’s a great find and will a fantastic project for somebody. I would definitely leave it as it is for the auction as they get much more interest in that ‘untouched’ state. Can’t wait to see what it goes for.
I used to drive an A reg Granada 2.8i ghia X estate in the mid to late 80's. It was a rocket ship back then. Walnut veneer dash, all electric, sunroof, power steering, it was fully loaded. This brought back some very fond memories!
I passed my test at 18 in a 2.3L estate. No power steering or power brakes. The look on the examiners face was interesting 😊 Dad later upgraded to a 2.3GL which was a lot easier!
Lovely find thank you, interesting that the owner said it was taken off the road in 2001, and yet it’s last MOT was 2008! Having done only 48000 miles!
We did notice that after we made the video and mentioned it in the description; "Interestingly, we've since noticed that this car was MOT'd in 2007 and then again in 2008, with just 4 miles added to the clock between MOT's. Somebody in the family must have had plans!" Stuart (or is it Stewart? I should have asked) obviously didn't know. I believe he doesn't live on the farm where the car was stored. It's a family member's farm.
It’s currently on SORN. It’s an April 1982 car and the last logbook was issued in January 2012. It’s last recorded MOT mileage was in August of 08 at 48k miles.
Yeah, we mentioned the MOT in the description. “Interestingly, we've since noticed that this car was MOT'd in 2007 and then again in 2008, with just 4 miles added to the clock between MOT's. Somebody in the family must have had plans!” The V5 was updated when the registered keeper moved from one building on the farm to another. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Do you not think it would be a good idea to get a detailer in to clean and make video content & good advertisement for that detailer, 1st video i have watched of yours, (I’ve subscribed) I think its amazing how true and honest in the way you have recorded this, looking forward to more. Good luck.
I just love old machinery. There's a steam fair near here next month (Woolpit Steam Rally) and the stationary engines always fascinate me. I must buy one some day. Totally obsolete now, but so satisfying to watch. And the smell....
Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing this one go through the auction, too, as well as the Astra GTE that we featured in a previous video. There's been a lot of interest in that one, too. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fuS8lwp6bMw.html
Hi, it would be so nice to see this old girl cleaned up to really see what someone would be dealing with but in all honesty i would leave it as found, i also think tne Granny 2.8 would get far more interest at auction as this dusty 22 year barn find. Thanks for your time & effort to share this. 😊👍😊👍
First time I’ve come across this channel. Looks good, looking forward to a watch. First few minutes look good. Hope it doesn’t end up on a banger track.
Sure was! And I was glad to go back and watch it being removed from the barn this week - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l568LDk1MqU.html
Omg… my ocd has kicked in and I’m shaking with the thought of detailing that gorgeous specimen and bringing her back to life. I’d buff and mechanically restore her to her former glory… In the real world, my kids need clothes.. so they tell me!
My dad had one from new I used to drive it 2.8 I Ghia same colour I think it was 2 tone reg number was b911xys King Charles & Diana had one 2 but there was x version .I drove it in 1990 when I passed my text before we sold it for a new bmw 520 👌
I so wanted an alarm to go off when he opened the door! The upholstery is amazing not being covered in mold and I think the worry will be rust below . Leave the dirt as backs up car genuine
Thank you for your kind comment. For this, I was just using an iPhone 14 Pro in a rigid rig mount. We've got gimbals here, but I just don't get on with them, especially when I've got time pressures on top of everything else. However, I've just bought a DJI Pocket 2 and am looking forward to trying that, possibly this weekend. It's currently still in the box, intimidating me. I need to get over my fear of camera-tech 😂
Like shit off a shovel! My friend had one and would terrify me driving in country roads back in the late 80's. A beast of a car. I've always loved Fords. Easy spares, great quality and performance. PS. Sell it cleaned and valeted.
I'm no car expert but i loved my ghia estate & i really wish I'd wrapped it in bubble wrap & kept it in our bedroom but my wife wouldn't let me! Cow! 🐄 🐮
I’m not sure if Anglia Car Auctions are going to wash it, but we’ll be up there before the auction and I’ll film it there, so you’ll get a good view if they have 😀
Definitely leave it as is for the auction. I reduced a 64 Beetle that had been parked in a house for 27 years. Took it to a mate’s garage. Went back the next day and he had washed it 😭
We’ll be uploading a video of this one getting recovered from the barn soon (I was there yesterday to film it). When it was dropped off at Anglia Car Auctions, people were still arguing over whether it should be washed or not 😂 I agree that it should be sold ‘as is’. Some people really enjoy the cleaning part.
@@UKBarnFinds if I had the money, space and time I would have old cars, vans etc and get money using the vehicles for period TV shows,it would give you a income when retired and it’s a great hobbie.
Our Cavalier, featured in a previous video here, actually appeared on TV this week. It was filmed before we owned it in a real-crime documentary. Same goes for the Peugeot 'police car' in our 'Bulk Bike Raid' video. Apparently, that's been in a few things.
Gotta say i used to pick up many old Ghetto Blasters and some would in a right state, cleaning them and seeing them look like new some did was a great feeling, so yeah i would leave it
hiya mate i would clean it before it goes out to auction or someone to come and have look at it good luck with it i am sure you would not be i've disappointed getting it
I remember they were common for an allen key shaped piece in the motor that drives the oil pump I think but not sure that used to round off. Ppl would cut down an allen wrench to replace it as it was stronger and not round off at the end.
It actually worked better than the Fird factory replacement because the allen key was a stronger steel. My mate who had alot of Cortina's, Zehpers and my personal favourite Ford Capri said the if that part round off or snapped under load it wrecked the engine. Ohh FYI, my most favorite car from the 70s is the Volvo P1800, the Roger Moore car from the Saint TV Series. Thay are awesome.
Our cars are very similar to you and Europe. If an American car comes here, it has to be converted to right hand drive or you can get a left hand drive permit but you have to keep it for 5 years or unless it's over 20 yrs old last time I checked. Keep up the great vids.
@@UKBarnFinds Thx fella. I don't live in UK 🇬🇧 anymore I'm in a better climate. Send you details in a mo. Here you go.... Let me tell you something more if I may. I was a British English language consultant in Kyiv one year and Odessa three. In Ukraine. I left ten months before vladolf putler invaded a hunch. My mother was from Britanny by the way 😂 My dad from Berlin....me...I'm from Kensington and Chelsea in London originally; but no English in my ancestry; as I researched it 😂 Live in Alanya region, of the beautiful Med Sea climate nowadays. 320 sunny days a year; and heavenly for an 'Englishman' 😂 Dec averaged 22c and Jan 21c. About 4 days rain total. Feb not cold either... Today is May 12th 2023 and it's 33c ☀ 🔥 I live here because of Brexit. Another hunch 😂 Prices very low for us....cigarettes £1.35 single pack of 20. (I don't smoke it's a good gauge for prices though) My monthly rent overlooking the beach is 350 euros. My electric bill varies from 17 euros to 28 euros monthly. My water bill; no more than 7 euros monthly. You can work out the cost of everything else, just based on what I've said. Bonne journée, je vais à la plage maintenant 😂 I'm 5 mins walk from here 👍 All year round it's pretty much the same. This video, about Nov 2022. My dad worked on the Ghia all models. A German engineer. He said, Ford were way ahead; and forget the rest 😂 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4V-cGAl6bxM.html
It is a ford, so I personally would not be too excited (never liked them) but I cannot help feeling sorry for a car that has just been stuffed in a barn - with no cover - for so long. Makes no sense to me at all. I personally would want to see what was under the dust and muck especially with a car fitted with roof rails - who knows how much rot the dust is hiding. It will make good money because there aren't too many estates left, so I wish the owner well
Id leave it as it is , if it goes for auction people love to see the original condition found @Auctions ..........i think it drives the buds up !!!??? If i was of course keepiing it which I WUD in a heart beat of coyrse full nut n bolt it @Cortina City!!!!!! T C's new MATE!!!!!!!!
I watched it being removed from the barn this week - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l568LDk1MqU.html . Thankfully, it still had all the barn dust when I saw it last.
I have to be honest... I had a ford Granada, fairly new.. as a teenager...it was a p.o.s. even way back then...as you Brita say"complete rubbish "...that as said...it would make a good Time machine for me
Obviously you didnt have one then as these have never ever bin a pos.extremely solid and dependable comfortable cars that could carry just about anything.looked great to.
Maybe not polish it but I’d definitely wash it and get it running though but my favourite big boy ford is the mark 1 3 litre ford Granada and I bought it from a mate who needed quick cash and I gave him £150 quid and she had no mot or tax so being on leave and for once being flush with cash I got her an mot and taxed for a year and she purred like a kitten. The one drawback I hated was she was a gutsy barsteward and it cost me one and a half tanks to get back to RAF catterick, my all in costs until I sold her was around £250 but the best bit was I sold her for £500 but dam it I still miss her
I dread to think what that MK1 would be worth today. It's possible that the auction house will clean this car, I honestly don't know yet, but I'm pretty sure they won't try to start it. They'd leave that to the seller or new owner, 'just in case'.
@@UKBarnFinds if was to buy it I’d strip down and rebuild and try to make it original from the factory because I’ve never been able to understand the method of modifying any car
The very sad fact is that possibly this will just end up on the banger track as most did. The mk1 and 2 granadas arguably my favorite cars of all time.I just hope this one ends up cherished ?
Genuinely, no idea, as auctions can be a funny thing. There was a lower spec one in similar condition on eBay recently with a starting price of £5000. I didn't see if it sold. This time next month, we'll know for sure about this one. I'll try to film it when it's sold at auction.
Hi, it's a 1982 Granada. The vendor explains in the video that it was just left there after he last used it to go to a wedding. We have since noticed that in 2007 and 2008 it was driven 4 miles each time for an MOT (I'm guessing the testing station was 2 miles away!). Somebody in the family must have hoped to use it, but it seems that never happened.
@@UKBarnFinds nice one! (My dad always had Granada Ghia estates, and he was kind enough to lend his to me and my girlfriend to go on holiday in Cornwall back in 1975. - It was very very comfy! 😁🥰
