EPCOT Center opened, as planned, on October 1, 1982 at 8:58 AM. The event began with Genie Field, 1982 Walt Disney World ambassador, presenting Card Walker. The ceremony opened EPCOT Center and included the dedication ceremony for Spaceship Earth.
