The After market shields will turn your starter and Stator into mush due to trapped heat. The Open Design allows more airflow and keeps them cooler. While they may look good they are actually very bad for longetivity factors of these 2 components. And you HAVE to remove the engine to replace a Stator. Its built into the engine at the back. Price that at the dealership why dont you. They won't even touch bikes older than 8 years old.
@@jameskleiber1782 I have an identical 1982 gl100 that was given to me from a uncle that basically rolled out of a time machine, it was bought new in 82 and rode for 5 summers parked in 87 and sat in a garage until 2004 then it was brought back to life and rode one summer before being parked again until I got it 3 years ago, it's been sitting in my garage too because there are a lot of things that need done and I just hadn't gotten to it shocks need rebuilt, calipers and master cylinder. This video makes me wanna get off my ass and get it done.
@@kevin58145 i just bought a "basket" case of this guy in january and had to do all of that stuff, full service. Front and rear brakes, shocks, full carb rebuild, all fluids changed, everything, almost done with it, i think its gonna be a nice ride! 82 gl1100 full dress...
It was early 80’s man.... there wasn’t much in the way of colors in the day that was good. Avocado green & dust gold appliances, rust red pontiacs, mustard yellow datsuns....
