I do have a 1985 model isuzu picup with a 2.2 diesel motor with 4speel gear box I love the truck driving with it in south africa traffic for 5 years to work never let me down did build my own tailgate and cattle rack for it and 15"wheels on it
Turn signals never worked, the switches were a constant failure point. Windshield wiper transmissions were another constant failure point. Other than that, great vehicle.
The rear disc brakes seemed to need almost yearly replacement, but other than that it was a great truck. Consumer Report listed the 1990 Isuzu 2wd truck as a "best buy", under 10k (used).
Greetings from South Africa. My uncle had something like this when I was in my early days (I was born in 1994), I don't remember the engine size and model year but that was what introduced me to the pickup truck world in general. He now has one of the more modern Hilux models which he bought in 2012 with the petrol engine. The idle sound makes me think of the diesel engines used in the Hilux before the d4d engines as it sounds very similar.
