I've got an 87' K10 with a 70's 350 swapped in and I've been thinking of getting some black widow venom 250's. 1. Does the exhaust get pretty rappy when cruising in the mid rpm range? I've got 3:20 gearing so it's nothing for me to really worry about but I'd like to not be a nuisance for people passing me when I'm just cruising lol. 2, Have you ran this setup without cats? and if so do they sound any different other than just it being louder? I live in a county where smog checks aren't required and was thinking of removing my cats. If you could answer it would be appreciated.
1. I don’t think it was too loud or raspy in the cruising RPM range. Depending on exhaust setup or engine mods, you might have a different experience though. My setup was a stock 350 with the longtube headers, and a true dual 3” exhaust with no X or H pipe to join the exhaust from each side of the engine. It had a high flow cat and a Venom 250 muffler on each pipe. 2. I never ran it without cats. I probably only had this setup for a few months before I sold the truck.
Tough to remember honestly. I sold the truck a while back. The Drone was not bad compared to the drone it had with Dynomax Bullets and no cats. It was a similar drone to the Magnaflow mufflers that I had on the truck, but the Magnaflow was probably a 3/10 (for noise) and the Black Widows were about a 5 or 6 out of 10. Keep in mind that that was with high-flow cats. The Dynomax Bullets and no cats were definitely like an 8/10. (For loudness, I'm considering a 1/10 to be a mild 350 with stock exhaust and a 10/10 to be the same engine but with open headers.)
What motor did you have in this thing? I got a 350 in mine I got flowmaster super 10’s but they aren’t really doing the sound I want was looking into these
@@biggbhudda5298 Ahh okay, I get what you're saying now. It was a nice sounding truck. Sad that I sold it, but I'd like to get another one someday. I love 1 ton duallies.
That truck sounds amazing I got a 82 that has flow master 70 series but I’m fixing to do super 10 then later on I’m gonna do headers to a 3” pipe and maybe some of those mufflers
Is there anyway you could do a video on this truck with revs and a driveby or two. Really debating on getting a 250 venom on my 88. Truck sounds amazing btw.
It’s close to Toyota Speedway Blue. I had a paint shop try and color match it as best as they could, and that’s what we came up with. The previous owner said when he painted it, it was sort of a mix of a few colors.
They were actually on the truck when I got it. they fit alright but the driver's side collector seems to be a bit close to the leaf spring shackle. Not bad otherwise as far as I can tell.
Thank you! The magnaflow is much quieter and has a more refined sound. The Black Widows seem better suited for the type of sound you’d expect from an older truck.
Nick Berger i have 90 K1500 stock 350 TBI. It has aftermarket intake shorty headers from jba and also has JB as matching y-pipe into a high-flow single catalytic converter into a Dynomax race bullet with a flowmaster mandrel bent 3 inch tailpipe. I like it better than the Flowmaster I had on there cuz I just got tired of that sound, then I had a 5 inch round MagnaFlow race bullet but it wasn't quite loud enough, I really like the sound of my Dynomax race bullet I think I just want to remove some of the pops and crackles. So I have looked at the Flowmaster Super 10 possibly I've also looked at the Black Widow Widowmaker 10 or the new 6in version. I even thought about putting my 5 inch MagnaFlow back on just to take out the pops and crackles. Or I thought about the 4in round body magnapack. Black Widow I think has a good product I do think that you are a bit on the pricey side just like borla great product but expensive.
As far as I can tell, it's a stock 5.7 TBI engine with a carb swap. TBI heads, most likely stock cam, and longtube headers, so nothing special. All I did to the engine was install a Spectre reusable air filter.
