Absolutely awesome. I've been driving W126 and W123 diesels for 27 years. The 300SD, to this day, has always been my favorite. I have a 1984 with 752K, and a 1983 with 143K. There's just nothing like them. They just don't make them like they used to! Great video. Really enjoyed it. I just subscribed, after seeing this video for the first time. Best wishes!
Love the looks of that blue, I have the silver blue color on my 1982 and the Deep blue interior, mine the original owner passed away and the shop he always used to take the car to ended up with it, I purchased it from them and had to put the engine from my 1986 300SD into the 81 . My 86 was hit from behind by a pickup truck and the insurance totaled it out with just a bent bumper, that’s ok though because the 81 has a better body on it anyways. So took a weekend and swapped the engines out cause the 81 engine and transmission was running really rough and not shifting automatically. But bow with the engine and tranny out of the 86 it just came to life and is as beautiful as ever
Fantastic find John! Hi Shannon. Wagon was a big hit at the FuelFed show last weekend, and the new drain tube is installed. Thanks for everything John!
Beyond AWESOME couple! They were so humble to be so financial secure! Love owners like this! Rare today and quickly becoming a memory! Gorgeous car! Same color as my 84 and 85 except mine have the palomino interior. Wish they had the parchment like this one!
Yeah this is the nicest SD I've ever found probably won't ever find one like this again. But then again I've said that before so we'll just have to see.
Nice find. Love the color outside and interior color too. Looking at the colors of the guage needles tell it all. Very hard to find a low mileage original owner car as nice as that one. Congratulations
Another great find! Couldn’t make the California MBCA event…peak season for our business. Super great garage and house set up and super nice people! I have an ‘83 528e like the wife had under the cover. Wonder if that will be for sale? Glad to see Shannon went along for the ride. My 116 still running strong. Safe travels. Chris
Diesel is about what 5.00 a gallon here in Georgia I can’t even imagine how much it is in California and there have been talks about a diesel shortage too.
Alan let's hope there's not going to be a diesel shortage. Diesel is what runs the world. Diesel runs the economy and puts every single item in every single store in the world. If there's a diesel shortage we can kiss the modern world goodbye. Also keep in mind people buying these extremely nice collector cars are usually wealthy individuals. One or two dollars difference on a gallon of diesel makes no difference. Unfortunately the rising cost of fuel is most damaging to middle and lower income families. It's the harsh reality of the situation.
The car is currently on a transport coming back from California and will be here November 7th or 8th. I would like a week to go through the car, change the tires fluids etc. So it'll probably be available in a couple of weeks.
Hey John… Great find! And you should have Shannon in all your videos… You guys make a really cute couple. Sorry I wasn’t able to meet you both in SoCal…going there this coming week instead😫 Encino is a really nice place… I had a chance to go into the Jackson family home right down the road from where you were many years ago when I was doing business with them… it’s a Mercedes-on-every-block kind of place. Looking forward to getting my Woods And Barclay 300CD on the road this coming week back here to California… Really really looking forward to it! I know if it has your stamp of approval it’s going to be a great ride. I’ll send you a video of my receiving it when it gets here!😉👍
Very funny Last year I bought a 82’ 300sd from the original owner down in San Diego with 52.000 miles, same color Lapis blue, with blue leather also just as nice, and the owner his name was also Steve It’s now in my collection in The Netherlands
If this was a 500 and an SEL version at that................I would be drooling by now, even though it's pre 1986 (facelift). Doubt there are many original cars out there in that condition and if there were, they would be worth a fortune. Does he mention the asking price at any stage ???
@@woodsandbarclay $10000 is expensive …………..but $30000 is also expensive, just more expensive. I feel it’s close to the latter but then I don’t know how prices are in the USA.
If I were Steve I would have asked to be buried in it. I'm kidding of course. This screams one owner. My best to you, Steve and his wife. Nice to see a long lasting marriage. Speaking of which, and I write this with all the respect to you and knowing it's none of my business and I will never mention it again in these posts. Marry Shannon Mr. It looks like she would say yes. If I'm right, that is a blessing from God. And she would be blessed to have found you. Thank you for sharing your stories. : )
That is a previous generation and cars were made to last a lifetime back then. A lot of people that bought a Mercedes back then were purchasing their dream car and planned on keeping it their entire lives. Cars back then were not made to be thrown away or sold every 5 or 10 years. It was a different society and a different economy. Manufacturers actually made high-quality products that would last a lifetime.
