Hi guys. For those wondering, KITT now has his (3rd season) dash installed. Video of it getting painted here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GLrMhOqk0Wc.html
Wow!! Now THAT is a sexy car!! Amazing job!! So great to see fans who are truly dedicated to this show! :) Can't wait to see it when you finally install the dashboard! :D
I've just watched this right through. I can't believe your attention to detail and the love and care you put into this project. An outstanding achievement and the finished car is magnificent.
I got my very own knight rider car too which was in blue it took me around 2 years to fully look like the knight rider car we all know and love .I drive it all the time .and even today it turns heads .people ask do I want to sell it .but the answer will always be noooooooo way
i want indeed a car like this too, with or without dash, doenst matters. what is a dashboard? has to sound like kitt, blink like kitt, and look like kitt,,, that matters :D
Damn, that is some awesome work! 'Knight Rider' is one of my all-time favorites. I was thirteen when the show originally aired. Driving that car around town must be pretty sweet. You've done KITT proud. One day I hope to have my own KITT. It's great to see that great shows we grew up with still inspire so many. I'm looking forward to seeing the interior work on KITT's dashboard. It's obvious that you put a ton of love into this. I subscribed to your channel. "One man can make a difference."
Amazing job, and what pleases me, is no top-tint on the windscreen, so many replica builders have a top tint, which KITT didn't have.......great job ;-)
Brilliant! I've done auto body striping the long hard way as you did and it's brutal work. Great looking end result! Hadn't realized you could get KITT, props :)
Damn Australian law. You have to have a number plate in front and behind. Wish they could make an exception on cars like these. Well done, beautiful job.
I would imagine the dash would very extra difficult because it's right-hand drive not left, so you'd have to get/make a mirrored dash. because while I'm sure there are people that make that dash for replicas, they make left-hand drive dashes
Hi. What a wonderfull project. What an awesome result. Good job. A question: Why is kitt with a right hand drive? Not stock... I joke it's like in the séries. Mickael Knight and Davon Miles should ne pround of your Kitt... Bye. A french fan
Good man just watched this and wow what a lot of hard work and must of cost a arm and leg but nice to see someone going after something they want because you must of had a lot of people telling you, you were mad. Well I don't think so :) good job top man.
Hate to rain on your parade but that probably wasn't an '82 Firebird.... It had the 20 slot rims which only became an option after 1984. Still a nice car though.
Hi. Thanks for your comment. But yes, this is definitely an '82 model. It came with the 1982 PMD seats, the round shift knob, and is a 3 speed. All one year only 1982 options. Also, VIN and paperwork says so.
There is a set of vids on here where some company in Australia or New Zealand did a TA conversion to KITT for a client, and it too was RHD, must admit, it did look strange to see the dash in RHD format, can't remember if they sourced it or fabricated it themselves, or perhaps there may be somewhere in Japan or China (the one where they drive on the Left) lol, where you may be able to source one for yourself. Failing that, I suppose if you could get hold of the full dimensions somehow, get them mirrored, and go from there. Anyway, I too am an avid fan of KR, and thanks for sharing your experience with us and best of luck with the rest of the project. :-)
I really enjoy this. This is awesome! I'm a girl, and I think I have an obsession too haha. I'm still watching episodes online when I have free time. Great work!
It's your dream, my dream and i think is the dream of many guys of the 80's come true. Well done great job. Ciao da Modena ( hometown of Rerrari racing cars ) Italia
I wonder why, with right hand steering, didn't Pontiac reverse the design of the hood. Normally it wouldn't matter, as most cars hoods don't have a vent like the Trans-Ams did but given that on the U.S. versions the vent is more on the driver side, why not redesign the hood so the vent is more on the right?
Arif Mostafa Hi. Hi just walked into the paint shop and asked for the best blackest black they had... no other tints in there... I believe the brand was Debeer.
Somebody, someday should add a little speaker on the scanner with the original sound playing, so when you turn on the car people outside would hear KITT scanner.
Looks great! I wouldn't have bothered me if your photo slides where a little slower/longer. Now I had to pause at each picture. I hope you get the dash soon enough. I heard these are pretty expensive...
