Thanks man ! Yep, it turned out really nice and is really fun to ride 👍. You’ll probably like your 920’s rear shock/spring stiffness...mine has a 750 rear shock/spring and it moved too much when I hit bumps so I had to add rubber between the spring curls to stiffen it a bit. I have a 920 shock/spring on my Cafe and it has a nice solid feel when I put my weight on it 👍.
I dont generally like when guys chop the rear fender right down in these but something about how you did the seat and tail match the tank, it just works right on this build you did a great job i really like the lines and over look and shape!
Thanks man 👍. Yep, a lot of the bobbed bikes I looked at when I was trying to lay it out looked unfinished in the rear and obvious that it wasn’t made that way. It took a few fit ups and rebending to get the fender and seat to flow with the tank, but I think it turned out nice. Out of my three 1st Gens (Stock, a Cafe, and this one), it is definitely the one that folks like the look of better. Also, thanks for commenting one the video…it has been a while since I’ve viewed it and it seems my music tracks were no longer on the video. Steve just received a replacement 750 now the frame is hanging from the rafters in the garage with one bolt in the first front location trying to negotiate the rest of engine mounting a few shims and another hand should do it like your headlight box design

Yep, I was wanting something slim that didn’t show much...it was barely big enough to stuff all of the wiring into since I didn’t do a bare bones wiring harness, lol. The headlights were a set of side by side lights off eBay that I separated and made individual mounts fit so they could be over/under.

Chiefpep , wow...good eye for the BMW models ! Yes, it’s a e38 740il...my old James Bond car lol (my son has it now). The stock fender cut down nicely and attached to the swing arm fairly easily. You are right...I should have waited until I painted it and put a walk around clip at the end of it fully complete. I may do that and replace this video on the channel 👍. Hillwill27 , hello...you are right that way too much air will come in with these filters on it...especially when you are going down the road since it rams even more air into the carb. What I did was to take two thin strips of aluminum and block off the air flow on the outside and inside of the foam filter. The outside strip has a 1.5” gap that is oriented to the back of the filter (so air cannot be pushed into the opening when riding), then the strip that is inside of the foam filter has the 1.5” rectangular opening to the front of the filter. This way the air is pulled into the rear opening, then has to flow sideways through the foam filter and then comes into the carb through the front gap. This restricts it a little, but the main thing is that it makes the air laminar so it will lift the diaphragms correctly. Note that I also didn’t want to restrict the air too much so I also increased the jets in the fuel bowls to size 43 and 128 versus the stock ones. This way it balanced the fuel to the increased air as well. Hope this helps 👍
Crystal_Clear _ , hello...I got it off eBay. It’s listed something like Harley / metric bikers choice speedo with leds. It is a 2 to 1 ratio so it’s close on the speed, but not exact. When running about 50mph it shows about 54mph, but close enough for me since. It was the only one I could find at a decent price that had the leds for oil, high beam, etc...
I just purchased a Xv750. Im looking to buy a bobber out of it. I’m looking for gasket kits for the engine and can’t seem to find anything for a 92. Did you replace any of the engine gaskets?
ReeL Gaming , congrats on the purchase...these are great old bikes👍. Mines an ‘82 1st Gen so I was able to find a complete gasket kit for mine. Not sure about the ‘92 xv750’s, but there is a great Facebook group called “Virago Nation” that has a ton of folks that have all year models and I’m sure would know where to get the gasket kits from. Hey man ! Thanks 👍. The air intakes are actually from a VW car and were part number AC129741. I ended up taking some black aluminum roof flashing and blocked off quite a bit of the air flow since they are so open it was impossible to get the carbs to adjust and throttle up correctly. I believe there’s another video on the channel under the xv750 playlist that shows how I blocked some of the air off. Hey man ! I used the stock fender, but cut it down and welded a 1/8” thick plate to it so I could bolt it directly to the swing arm. That way it moves with the wheel and could be close to it like a hard tail, but I was able to keep the OE mono shock so the ride is still smooth 👍. The fender did barely touch under the seat when I first put it all together, but I added some rubber between the coils of the mono shock spring to limit its travel a bit. All the best ! Steve

Alex Bill , hey man. I used the two larger frame mount threaded studs to mount the seat frame, but like you said, there are only these two so it wanted to tip front to back. I ended up drilling two smaller holes in the frame toward the front of the mounting plate and threading them as well. I thought about welding two more threaded studs for the new holes, but since the big ones hold the weight, the smaller ones I drilled just keep it from tipping so they didn’t need to be very strong.
Hillwill27 , hello...they are from a VW bug, lol. The part number is AC129741...got them off eBay. To connect them to the carbs I used 4 ply Silicone reducer elbows that were 50mm ID on one end and 60mm ID on the other...just had to cut the elbows down a bit so the air cleaners didn’t stick out as far from the bike 👍
