So Fresh So Clean 1983 Cadillac Coupe Deville White out side and Banana Yellow in side ⭐💰👑💯

I had an 84 Coupe deVille in the identical colors as this one. There is virtually no difference between the 83 & 84. These cars have the 4100 engines in them which were Cadillac's worse engines. Mine was 4 years old when I bought it in 1988 and by when I sold it in 2003, I replaced the engine three times. They call this engine a "Throw away" engine. It has an aluminum block and when it reaches about 90K to about 100/110K, the heads start leaking and when you try to replace the heads, you've opened a can of worms. I will never own another early to mid 80's Cadillac with the 4100 engine again, no matter how nice the car may look.

Where's the Astroroof, VOGUE tyres & true OEM spokes. U can't get the very useful "Lamp monitors" on new Caddies. 96, I believe was the final year. That 1 I had w/LT-1 vette engine. I miss it, that was the final year of true Caddies like Ur's. Oh, big guy, fix the horn, back to 4note. Dignity

Yes, 1996 was the final year for lamp monitors. On the Fleetwoods. I have a 1994 Fleetwood Brougham with the LT1 engine you describe and its an awesome car! And YES, it has the lamp monitors.

Are these cars worth buying
@retroguy9494
@retroguy9494 2 года назад
Yes they are once you are aware of some VERY important things. I have a 1984 Coupe DeVille with 25K original miles and I am the 2nd owner. First of all, you need to know what they are worth. This guy is asking almost 3 times what its worth. Mine is a year newer and does have double the mileage as this one, but I paid $4,500 for it. Next, you need to know about maintenance due to the troublesome HT4100 engine. You need to use a thicker oil and change it often if you're going to drive it a lot. You need to add the 'pellets' to the antifreeze that AC Delco sells. This will prevent the leaks that these engines are prone to having which destroy the engine as coolant can leak into the heads. Finally, you CANNOT push these cars on the road. They were underpowered even for the early 1980's. They don't like to go much above 60 MPH. In fact, they CAN'T really go above 65 or so unless you're going downhill. But you have to remember, the national speed limit when these were made was 55. Don't drive it in extreme heat or extreme cold either. These cars do best cruising at around 50ish. And they have an AMAZING ride!

I owned an 83 Eldo roadster with the HT4100 engine in it, not a thing went wrong with that car in four years of driving it. The dislike of that engine is misplaced. I put over 2,000 miles on it in just two weeks driving in France, Belgium and Germany, nothing wrong with it at all. Nothing. I absolutely adored my Eldo and will have another one

IKR? He was NUTS at $21,500! And I'll bet someone was equally as crazy to pay close to that too! I have a 1984 Coupe Deville. By '84 they fixed a lot of the issues with the 4100 but not all of them. So you're better off with an '84 or '85. Mine, when I bought it, had 24K original miles and I'm the 2nd owner. I paid $4,500 for it! Mint condition too except for a few paint blemishes as it IS original paint.

@@retroguy9494 - Well you're lucky. I replace the engine in my 84 Coupe three time in the 10 or so years that I had it. Never again will I buy a Caddy with the 4100 engine in it.
@retroguy9494
@retroguy9494 2 года назад
@@georl1 Let me ask you; did they replace it each time with another 4100? Because from all I've read, they usually replaced them with one of those "Goodwrench" engines which, I believe, were carbureted. That fixed the engine for the life of the car it seemed. Yes, I was lucky. From all I've read, it was the luck of the draw with those 4100's. You either got a good one or a bad one. I've read stories about them exploding at only 50K or 60K miles. Yet, I knew a man who had one which he bought brand new and ran up close to 200K on it with no issues.
@georl1
@georl1 2 года назад
@@retroguy9494 - Yes, every time I had to replace the engine, which seemed like around every 90K, it was replaced with another 4100 only because the computer in it would not allow us to replace with any other engine. After the original engine let go around 89K, I wanted to replace it with a 350 Chevy engine but we couldn't do it because of the computer. In those cars, the computer controls everything including the lights and all. The 4100 was made to work with the computer so any other engine was out of the question, but we tried anyway. As I said, every time it hit around 90K, there went the engine so after the third engine, the body started to rust out, especially around the rocker panels so I decided to get rid of it. I sold it for $200.00.
@retroguy9494
@retroguy9494 2 года назад
@@georl1 So, basically what you are saying is that you had a total of FOUR engines in that car, right? And they each lasted to around 90K. Which means you must have gotten at LEAST around 300K out of that car before you got rid of it, right? That's actually pretty good! Especially for THAT era of car. The most I ever got was 213K out of my 2005 GMC Yukon which I just got rid of a year ago as the frame was all rotted out and my mechanic said it was too dangerous to drive. You're right. Chevy 350's wont work in that car. But I have one in my 1994 Fleetwood Brougham and they are awesome engines! I still find it strange that they kept replacing it with another 4100. The standard replacement by GM was, as I recall, the Oldsmobile 307 which, of course, was a carbureted engine.

What do you want dude? They're KIDS. They weren't even alive when these big old American luxury cars were made. They probably don't even remember when some were still on the road! To these kids today, luxury means more technology in the form of bigger computer screens that let you operate your phone from it or store your music on it or navigate from it. What I got a kick out of was when he tried to turn on the lights and said "oh they're not going to light up unless I turn the car on!" 🤣 No dumbass! Its because all your dash lights don't WORK (as can be seen when he's driving the car) indicating a fuse or much worse, an electrical problem!
