I might be wrong but I think Maurice Rioli is wearing the number 27 instead of the number 17 he wore at Richmond in his early years there in the 1983 practice match. Maurice Rioli ironically wore the Richmond football club number 27 guernsey on a regular basis in 1986 & 1987, after his attempt to transfer to the Sydney Swans was not allowed in early of the 1986 season.
Maurice Rioli wore number 17 from 1982-1985 & number 27 from 1986-1987 oztiger. During his attempt to transfer to the Sydney Swans in 1986, Rioli's number 17 guernsey was given to Craig Smith I think. When Maurice Rioli returned to Richmond around May/June 1986 he got the number 27 guernsey instead. Maybe he liked wearing number 27 like he did in the 1983 practice game oztiger.
