Yeah man not like England and other countries were and probably still are using CCP style surveillance cameras to see who's unmasked, not like unvaccinated people are being put in camps in Australia but yeah those Orwelians are so crazy amirite ROLFMAOLOOOOOOOL
@Jessisrllygr8 Orwell was a literal socialist who even fought in Catalunia for the Republicans. Anyway, 1984 is against ever kind of authority (in fact the Big Brother is drawn as a union of Stalin and Hitler). Orwell meant it as a critic to Stalinism and not to communism as whole, same as animal farm where the communist utopia decays into the stalinist madness.
Ironically, this came to resemble most closely the former allied powers and western democracies. The linguistic control combined with the pleasure-sense slavery of BNW.
@@BronanTheDestroyer have you even ever read 1984? If yes, then I'm highly concerned about your literacy if you think any of it resembles a western democracy. Some words being considered highly offensive and inappropriate =/= newspeak.
@@thiccpazuzu2573 I was suggesting that the real life dystopia which developed is more like a fusion of 1984 thought/language policing with application of pleasure sense control as seen in Brave New World. You're a perfect example by the way, you're perfectly socialized to defend the agenda, ideology and beliefs of the plutocratic elite. Here, I'll demonstrate. Mass immigration and the breakup of ethnic identity only benefits the plutocratic elite and irreparably harms the working poor native inhabitants of any nation host to these ideologies, as well as the country of origin of the immigrant group. Mass immigration = saturation of the labor market = corporations and industrial bigwhigs can push to lower wages and labor expectations down = more profits. Simple supply and demand economics. The only retort you can give to this is to parrot some sort of Reaganite trickle-down economic model that will somehow translate this dynamic into a higher standard of living for the lower classes. Also, when you strip people of their innate identity, they can be sold their identity via way of consumer goods and entertainment. This is what we call commodification. Now your reaction to these statements will be to call me racist or to imply that I am ignorant (i am not parroting the narrative of the plutocrats, which is taught in the school systems, so i must be ignorant/uneducated).
@@BronanTheDestroyer It's quite sad that you honestly believe we live in a dystopia. Unless you live in Communist China and maybe Russia, you're chafing under no thought/ language policing, and even in the two aforementioned countries, the level doesn't come anywhere near to that of 1984. Again, being cancelled for racist or inappropriate jokes or comments isn't thought policing. I'm not going to go into economics because honestly i don't give a damn and am not versed in the subject, but mass migration isn't 1984, just as no cultures are erased by mass migration. Sure, there'll be changes, see for example French adopting many Arabic words, but French culture, or any other culture for instance, will not disappear. It will evolve, as has any non-isolated culture in history. As for you being ignorant, I fully agree. But it's not because of "the narrative of the plutocrats, which is taught in the school systems". For such a narrative to be taught in the school systems, school systems would have to be standardized worldwide, which simply is false. Methods of teaching, as well as the information taught, varies wildly from country to country, with the exception of sciences, since they apply universally.
Can we agree that this music is amazing? Also, the tank they use (and the equipment) are WW2 stuff, which supports the theory present in the book, that the war simply doesnt exist and the gov. of Oceania fakes it to strenghten their rule
Maybe they chose stuff the audience would unconsciously associate with totalitarian regimes. The helmets are Soviet-bloc make, and the tank appears to be a StuG IV, a German tank destroyer in World War II. EDIT: Okay, it's a Hetzer. My mistake. Doesn't change my point. Good day.
I always signed to this theory because... Well, it's the most canon theory ever. Maybe there isn't an Oceania at all, it's just the British isles, isolated, pretending to it's citizens that it is a superpower (exactly like North Korea)
As someone who works at the Ministry of Truth. The new dislike button is there to track who press it. Once you do you are marked and well be tracked. Big Brother is watching.
Lyrics: All hail Oceania! Her cause is true and glorious. All hail Oceania! Her armies are victorious. What sustains us never dies Big Brother steadfast at our side he guides us always, firm and wise, the light of truth, far and wide. All hail Oceania! Her cause is true and glorious. All hail Oceania! Her armies are victorious. Still to beckon, still to shine, marching bravely to the fore! Built of trust and strong with pride; Hail Oceania, evermore! Hail! War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.
@@definitelynotawarcriminal2261 Really? You could have said Eastasia or Eurasia or even Goldstein, but you’ve chosen a faction that has nothing to do with 1984.
I have a theory that Oceania is limited to only the former United Kingdom and is an isolated state, much like North Korea but to new extremes. A likely scenario is possibly in the aftermath of the Atomic Wars, Ingsoc partisans were successful in overthrowing the British government but had failed to seize control of the United States and overseas colonial possessions in Canada, South Africa, or Australasia. From lack of communications with their overseas comrades and legitimately believing the Revolution was successful, the ruling Ingsoc Party overturns society and begins a long process of mass extermination and reeducation. As the rest of the world rebuilds from the Atomic Wars and progresses under the ideals of democracy and western capitalism, Oceania is cut off from the rest of the world in a perpetual state of ruin, creating an endless warzone in Ireland to kill their own countrymen
No, the book states that the former UK is but a subregion of Oceania called, "Airstrip One". [This is for the UK's role as a host of so many bomber bases used against Germany during WWII]. There is more to Oceania than just the present UK archipelago. The INGSOC flag implies that the Commonwealth countries and probably the current US are included also. INGSOC means, "English Socialism", so Oceania is a union of English language-speaking peoples who lands touch the N. Atlantic at least.
@@roberthaworth8991 while the novel does state how Oceania encompasses all of the English-speaking world (as claimed especially in Goldstein’s Oligarchical Collectivism section), the perspective is still through the eyes of a citizen of Airstrip One. There is not a single reason to trust a word that comes out of the Party’s mouths. I also have my high doubts that Ingsoc partisans could successfully overthrow or suppress the U.S. or American people
Im the most democratic player in HOI4. I just made Kornilov a Russian ruler in Kaiserredux, but i could make Savinkov or some national-eurasist a president (i made Savinkov a president anyway in other game)
My little brother walked into my room while I was listening to this, singing along, and had both hands raised in a cross doing the salute. He just left. 💀💀
The party probably wouldn't bother to punish proles for political crimes as long as they don't try to act up. And room 101 is only the rat room for winston, because rats are his greatest fear
I personally prefer the Kazakhstan anthem tbh, the "Kazakhstan, greatest country in the world, All other countries are run by little girls." from the famous documentary done by renowned journalist borat sagdiyev really touches me.
I’m joining the great army of Oceania in 5 days. I will defend Oceania no matter what. I listen to this every half hour. Our homeland is the truth and the single truth ☝🏼🙏🏻⚔️
The fact that the majority here fail to see that there is no specific country or nation, but yes almost almost every government shares the strategys in 1984 scares the shit out of me and leaves hopeless
I like to believe all the "enemies" of Oceania have the same anthem and lyrics with "Oceania" swapped with their respective places. You prevent a slave from wanting freedom by convincing them they are free
It’s kinda funny. All these people in this comment section going “This is what Biden and the Democrats/Trump and the Republicans want” are being exactly that way themselves.
Seriously though this is a smashing abloslote banger of a dystopian film John Hurt really captures the helplessness and meek nature of Winston Smith and the party rally scenes are great as well particularly the two minutes hate opening scene the actors and actresses that are the surrporting characters and extras really give off great performances like pretty much everyone else in this film they genuinely look their expressing hatred in those scenes
The book as metaphor is maybe a little bit overdone and misses the fact that it was about Stalin anyways, but Radcliffe's movie is brilliant: the score, the set design, cinematography, the acting...Richard Burton's last role, what's not to love?
@floron7777 ahhh how hard is it to live in a first world country ahhhhhhh stop crying my dude, australia is one of the best rn imagine living here in Brazil, i thankfully live in the best, most richest and safest area in the entire country, but our economy is ASS, we are literally a downgraded Australia we've got the same national colours, the same size, deadly fauna and flora, 90% of our countries are inhabitable due to the biomes (Amazon and Outback Desert), people never know the capital of our countries (Rio de Janeiro and Sidney; when it's actually Canberra and Brasilia) Now imagine living in the Congo or Afghanistan OR EVEN WORSE, NORTH KOREA
Always funny when people draw parallels between this and the modern day world. Like this has already happened during WW2, we've been through this, this literally looks like a 1 to 1 copy of that except the logo and hand gesture is different
