Thats the most perfect example of a FLH shovelhead. I've owned 6, that baby is beautiful. The last year of old technology, is always better than the first year of new technology. PANHEADS FOREVER.
Hi Rich, I am inheriting this exact model and year Harley from my grandfather. I am actually going to pick it up this weekend. He bought it brand new and has kept It mint all these years. It's all original with about 22k on it. I have a picture with me sitting on it the day he brought I home brand new when I was 2 years old. I never plan on selling it but I am curious as to what it might be worth. Would you have a idea what it could possibly be worth?
Thanks, i'm really looking forward to riding it. So last time I talked to my grandfather about the bike ,It's been about a year ago Before he started getting dementia really bad , he said he tried to start it, and he said it puked up oil. Since then, nobody has tried to start it. I can see the oil dried on the garage floor. From doing a little research , i've seen its called wet sumping? If you Don't you mind? Would you be able to give me any insight on this and maybe some Do's and don't prior to starting? Thank you
@@Chadp2151 Hey Chad, that's exactly correct ! It's called a dry sump engine because the oil is stored in the oil tank above, there is a check ball in the oil pump and over time oil leaks by accumulating in the engine crankcase, there is a rubber vent line usually with a small filter at the end that vents the crankcase, so oil accumulating would get blown out the vent when starting the engine. Seriously no big deal, make sure there's oil in the tank, then fire that bitch up! The check ball and spring in the pump is easily accessible, if it you feel over time you want to replace them. These engine do drip a little and that's normally where its coming from. Good luck with it ! P.S. what color is it, the red ones are a little rarer
