People don't understand that an engine is one of the top things that defines these landcruisers (or any classic Toyota for that matter). Then they ask too much for it. Instantly became disinterested.
Having had 2 FJ60's... I understand the emotional link to the 6 cylinder. That's a two way street. The 6 is "torque'y", underpowered, ugly emission controls, can be finicky... 13mpg, but it's an FJ60. You know that up front. The crate 350...should run effortlessly for a long time, doesn't need diddling for more power, should not be finicky. Overdrive is nice if done well. Emissions on the 350...., don't know on this one. I'm in CA so that becomes a big deal. And the install: drive shafts, motor mounts, emissions, cooling... they all need checking out. So it's not a pure FJ60. Fine, don't bid on it. If I could get it smogged for CA I would bid. enjoy
Let me take out the bullet proof motor and install a Briggs and Stratton 2 stroke engine, I have a 85 cruise I love the choke, carburetor, smells of gasoline, it's only smellz
