Condemned murderer Carroll Cole, who said he killed 13 individuals and refused to appeal his death sentence, gave his final interview to KLAS-TV while in Carson City's state prison. "If I said I wasn't concerned, I'd by lying, because everybody wants to go the easiest, most comfortable way," Cole said. "It has entered my mind that something might go wrong. There might be some kind of suffering. But that has not altered my decision."Cole was executed three days later by lethal injection, becoming the 50th individual executed in the U.S. since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.

Dude literally admitted to cops and psychologist that he had fantasies of killing people, yet they did absolutely nothing to help him. I’m in no way excusing his actions, the fact of the matter is he killed those people with his own two hands and paid the consequences, but I think he genuinely did everything he could to prevent himself from becoming a monster and the fact that he was released from mental hospitals is pretty telling.

Similar case happened in my country (Czechia): a woman who was schizophrenic or something seeked for help because she felt a need to kill someone but she was too difficult to handle for the staff in the asylum, so she was released (!!!) and she killed a random person in the supermarket shortly after that. It´s also typical for this woke era to never mention Carrol Cole was forced to crossdress as a kid by his crazy mother who also gave him obviously girlish name.

Anyone who knows this guy's story knows that in part the professionals who evaluated him and chose to let him go even though he said he wanted to stay in the hospital is to blame for that too coz he had asked for help several times, had warned them that he had a problem and needed help! But they chose to ignore the signs, and unfortunately because of these incompetent doctors, innocent people paid for it!

the psychiatric professionals nurture these tendencies, inflate them, and release the budding k1ller like a butterfly back into an unsuspecting society, sometimes as much as 6 months after his first murder. the advantage is that they can monitor his progress from then on, make sure he's employed in the right type of school, and let their friends in the p0l1ce know where not to look when the inevitable bodies start to pile up. then, when he eventually says hes had enough of the voices in his head and turns himself in by flaunting his murders, a brother lawyer steps in, checks what evidence his friends in the prosecution have, and then instructs the defendant that he should change his plea out of the blue to NOT GUILTY and here is the killers new story that will be presented to the court ideally at least 5 years later when each witness and investigator has forgotten much of what took place. the parasite lawyer then says we'll tear down the prosecution's case by questionning one of the 5000 pieces of forensic evidence connecting him to the murders which show he was coincidentally in 30 locations at the time of 30 murders in 30 different states, just by coincidence. the judge (dressed in female wig and dress) then instructs the jury to forget that the killer was found by sleepy police driving around with a freshly murdered person sitting next to him with blood everywhere and the persons trousers pulled down, the murder weapon under the front seat, oh and 4 people tied up in his basement back home. the judge advises the jury that no matter how blatent his guilt is (unless all concerned are lieing) you should try to not find him too guilty so that he can have 8 retrials - funded by whom exactly? if the legal system is successful it will have cost a fortune, sickened society to the core, and the k1ller will be handed back to his mentors in the psychiatric institution who will arrange for him to be expedited back into society as soon as possible when they reassess him a couple of years after sentencing and suddenly find he exhibits sane good behaviour and is ready to be released to once again beecum a productive 'member' of society and placed in his new employment as a school bus driver. this cycle proves the system works like a dream!

@OmKhadijah

Great interviewer. Human and humane. Often they ask questions in a very condemning ways and non-biased ways. But he considered that these were his last days and asked important questions. We already know that he is a criminal who committed horrific crimes, there's always a curiosity about the person/criminal. I still don't know how I feel about the death penalty. Conflicted. In a way, it actually seems more merciful for those who do not fear death or those who would rather be executed than live longer in prison. Like Ed Kemper who repeatedly requested the death penalty as a form of rest, I guess. It also seems that 'we' decide when someone dies, just like the criminal did to their victims. Sometimes it feels really justified or even not close enough to being justice. On the other hand there is this human aspect that does not wish death on anyone, even the most vial of criminals. I also want to see if they actually have true remorse and try to better themselves as people out of repentance. I am not speaking about Carroll Cole, but do you think that someone who truly repents still deserves to die? I still don't have an answer to that.

As several have already commented, he looked a bit like William Macy from the great movie "Fargo". I halfway expected him to do a "Jerry Lundergaard" imitation. "What the heck do you MEAN?" "You're darn tootin''!" "I'm cooperating . . ." "This could work out real good for me, Jean and Scotty." It would have been the perfect touch if he suddenly walked away and the interviewer had said (as Margie the police officer did in the movie), "Oh for Pete's sake. He's fleeing the inner-view . . . he's fleeing the inner-view!"

It's strange how everyone thinks the majority of serial killers are psychopaths. They're sociopaths who have been driven to commit murder because of their terrible life experiences. There could've been many murders and more happier families if parents took the time to help and educate their children and not berate them for their behaviour. At least Cole was honest, but he wasn't remorseful. Serial killers deserve to die because they pick victims who deserve to live.

@InbredTaco

Robert Smith Not all of them. The majority of them are mistaken for psychopaths. They are usually sociopaths born out of childhood trauma. If you don't believe me, go look at the childhood of every famous serial killer and I'm willing to guarantee that there is almost always an instance of abusive parenting. Psychopaths are born that way, and not all of them are violent. They're almost always sociopaths.

+Batterfly Sparkle im against the death penalty too. Cole used to go to the police and tell them of his urge to strangle and kill women. He asked for help actually and no one gave a damn until it was too late. Thats whats really disturbing in that case..

That journalist was slick. When Cole said he was most remorseful over the little girl because she didn’t get to grow up and become whatever she wished, either the journalist didn’t believe him or was testing his sincerity and asked, “What was her name again?” Because if he was so remorseful and thought about her, he’d darn well know her name, but he struggled with it and when he said her name, he said it questioningly.

We definitely need systems in place to help people who ask for it. We are so far behind in putting people first. Quit spending billions on stuff like weapons and space rockets and start studying what makes people tick and why they do heinous acts like murder. The powers thst be must invest in humanity. It's all about profit and power. Makes me sick.

I wonder if some of these guys actually wonder what happened to themselves as they face such a certain, public and humiliating death? Have ANY of them been sincere in their last minute remorse or plea to God for mercy? Or for some like Berkowitz, the passage of time allowed for a experience with God. Is that NOT “possible?” If it is possible, what would it look like? Berkowitz “seems sincere.” Perhaps it’s an act to get prison privileges and he has fooled many?But maybe he has actually been transformed?
