I have an 85 f150 short bed, 2wd 4speed that has the cab off my grandpas 80 f100 ranger and I have so many memories riding in that cab. The 85 was my Dads and it caught on fire christmas day in 95. My Grandpas truck was wrecked and the engine was blown, so we just swapped out the cabs. My Dad gave me the truck in 99 and me and my Grandpa rebuilt the top end of a 4.9 from an 86. I drove my truck senior year of high school and then it broke down so we parked it. My younger brother tried to fix it and seized the motor up somehow and it has sat for 20 years behind my dads barn. I moved my truck for the first time in 21 years this week, someday is finally here. She is finally going to get back to road worthy and will be my 10 year old sons first truck and he will be the fourth generation to turn wrenches on our truck. Thank you for your video, I am looking at what everyone else has done and just taking some notes. Beautiful truck you have there. It looks just like mine used to.
I’m trying to tell if you spray painted the grill. I have a 85 f-250 long box and I’m wanting to fix it up and looking really nice. Do you have any recommendations for the first things I should do to look/sound good?
I got a new grill from LMC truck and it was Matt gray inside the squares, so yes I taped it off and painted it gloss black, I would recommend a paint designed for plastic, scuff it , and use a prep solvent before you paint it. 👍🇺🇸
Do you know if this truck is fast stock? Because my dad has one sitting in the garage he’s giving me for my first car and I just want to know if I need to fix it up fo make it fast.
Well they didn’t have fast trucks back then. It was more about towing and dependability. On the plus side, these old ford trucks are not as popular as the square body Chevy trucks so they really stand out. In my opinion here in South Carolina you might see 1 Ford truck ( of this generation) to twenty of the Chevy of the same gen. It’s really nice of your dad to give you the truck I don’t think you will regret keeping it. Good luck with it
