Had been under the weather. But slowly got the strength to pull the carbs off the bike to clean them and get it running. Also took the Trans Am up to Jim's for some metal fab work and checked out the 1954 Chevy 210 Bel-Air he has been working on every since we did a Will it run on it a few a yare ago. #willitrun #hondagoldwing #carburetor #1954 #chevy #bel-air #210

I figured out how to 'free up' the choke valves ... because I had the same problem. I boiled the stripped down carburetors (basically soaked them in near boiling water for a few mins. They freed up and I was able to remove em with little issue ... except my inability to understand how to properly remove the fingers that attach to them to get them out in the first place. ha ha

I hate when them choke slides get stuck I actually broke one off in a set of carburetors a while back.

@@RpmAuto I bent one at the finger things and didn't know it. Seems to slide ok by hand operation of all the levers. Sadly, I was so busy today (with the 5 kids and a friends car) that I couldn't even get the new vacuum lines installed put the carbs back on the bike. lol. Maybe tomorrow ... ha ha (or today. It's now Sunday here at 1230am in WI, USA).

I always clean and reuse the original jets. They rarely wear out. Just need a thorough cleaning.

Yeah me too. You have to be careful with those carb kits because they might have different size Jets also.

I've got a 86 Goldwing that I'm going to have to rebuild or clean the carburetors. I also have a 84 that I just did the same thing on. I don't know if you noticed or checked in your carburetor rebuild kit. But the rebuild kit I received. The main jet was the wrong size I can't remember exactly what size was in the original carburetor. But besides that came in the rebuild kit was much bigger I believe the size it was in the original carburetor was 120 something. And the one that came in the rebuild kit was 140 something I haven't had the chance to finish watching your video I'm just at the point where you're putting it back together so I don't know how things turned out. But I was wondering if you had noticed that. Or if your kit had the correct size main jet I've decided I'm going to go with the single Volkswagen carburetor on my 1986. I have the manifold and the carburetor here now and depending on how it works if it works as good as what it looks like on RU-vid. I'm pulling the carburetor set off of the 84. And replacing that with the single carburetor setup. Altogether it's only around $200 to do it or just a little over and the way it sounds it really brings the motor to life a lot more. I'm in Minnesota so it'll take a while here before we get rid of the snow so I can ride it and find out

Well the carburetor kit I ordered had the same size Jets. But the carburetors I took off of the 87 had a different size main jets than 85. The single carburetor set up was going to be my next idea if these other carburetors didn't pan out.

@@RpmAuto I guess when it's all said and done. Going to single carburetor route is around $250-$275. Depending on where you get the stuff and how much you pay for an air cleaner. The main thing you have to make sure is that you don't run it to lean or too rich. Bottles Volkswagen carburetors are easy to adjust. Lots of information on RU-vid. I'm having terrible luck with a Honda carburetors.

I saw other videos talking about upsizing the main jet and such ... but I totally didn't realize that I could have gotten the wrong size jets on the rebuild kit. Whoops. lol. I should figure out how to check and compare them. Sheesh. Btw, WI here. How did that single carb upgrade do for you?

Good video, I use to clean the gas tank and replace filter and blow out the gas lines before i ever cranked the bike. seems like i used muratic acid for the inside of the tank. seems like fuel pressure was around 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 pounds out of the pump on the bikes i worked on. you are a good mechanic you will be flying down the road with your hair in the wind before you know it. LOL By the way i invested in one of those harbor frieight motorcycle lifts years ago, man you would not believe how much easier that makes workin on bikes. can roll it out of the way when not using it. I enjoyed the video

Do they just unscrew

They have carburetor boots that holds them with clamps you will have to take off your side panels to get to them
