I still got like 43 of them in all sorts of colors! But never had the ring, didn't even know that they were based on a manga...They were very popular in Greece in the early 90's and late 80's!
I collected these in 6th grade and so did every boy anywhere near my age that I knew. We never played with them or did anything with them, you just collected them. That's all it was. When the colors came out everyone knew it was over and got rid of them. In the 80's cool and weird were very similar ideas. Muscle thing was both cool and weird. Nobody got the wrestling ring. We had no way to know what they actually were or their names because the mystery made it seem cooler. The best activity to do with your figures was to trade them for ones you liked better or didn't already have.
I had a lot MUSCLE Men, Monster in my Pocket, and Battle Beast It's like they combined toys with baseball cards. You weren't sure of which ones were getting in a pack and everybody was trying to get the rarest ones or the coolest ones or collecting all of them, like trading cards.
I miss these type of toys, my brother when were kids had a tag sale with a bucket full of them... so he sold it to some kid on our street. hours later the kid came back asking for his money back. It was olny for two dollars for a bucket full of them but we in up giving the kid back his money and getting the MUSCLE men back.
The one with the six arms is Ashuraman. For such small figures they are really detailed you could probably paint them to resemble the manga/anime characters more.
My dad used to build homemade wrestling arenas using scraps of wood and other materials like yarn for the ring ropes and popsicle sticks for bleacher seating and used to have wrestling matches with the muscle guys he even used to make football fields for them and he gave some of them to me and my brother to play with to I still have a few left from my childhood I even have some homies if anybody heard of them they are out version of muscle men
The main character is Kinnikuman himself. As far as I know he was called Muscle Man here, which is a literal translation of his name. I used to watch the show a while back. Absolutely hilarious anime. I know he had a little kid sidekick but can't remember his name.
I remember in the early 2000's there was another toy line that I grew up with based on the sequel series Ultimate Muscle(Known in Japan as Kinnikuman II) . Sadly, I no longer have any of the little figures.
Thanks for the video ive always wondered where they came from as I managed to get some from somewhere as a boy probably a friend but still have them n loved playing with them lol as I did with all my toys
Guys there was a Cartoon that was show in the early 2000 Called Ultimate Muscle and a few games i have the ps2 game Also they did a n.W.o. type arc in the show called d.M.p. P.S. the game has a list of all the guys names
I’m actually going to start collecting some of the modern muscle figures I’ve ordered them they just haven’t gotten here yet .also ultimate muscle on the game boy advance is a fun game .
Don't know if you've ever seen or heard of em but they came out with something in the early 90's called monster in my pocket which was sort of similar to muscle men but they were more squishy.
When I heard about the concept and the galactic wrestling thing i was so amped! then i saw the ultimate muscle series. and i hated it lol i liked the costumes, like the idea, liked the toys, just not the actual show. Interesting thing though, in the American version, Kid Muscle and King Muscle use a move called the Muscle Buster which recently actual professional wrestlers have started using as a finisher. I'm almost positive a japenese wrestler did it first, but some american ones have also.
Do you remember spinjas?? They have a shittier knock off of it now that's just spinners but you like have different little metal figures that had a top spinner on the bottom and you wind them up and launch them and they'd clash into each other, last one still spinning won.. Spinjas kicked *ss!
didn't these have a peculiar smell? i had some sort of fighting set with them. two lines of squares on opposite sides. wish i would have kept my childhood toys. i'm sure i sold them in a garage sale.
