1985 Mastercraft Skier Powerslot 19' Restoration.
I bought this boat from a guy in Lower Alabama, the boat didn't work.It had low compression, a bad transmission, been sitting for awhile, no title, etc. I started cleaning it, took me 3 months to get title in Fla. Once I got the title I ordered a new Marine Power 5.7L 300hp engine. The dealer said 7-10 days it took over 100..I removed the old Ford 351 and gave it to a fellow MC friend. We tore out some old terrible fiberglass work and redid it. reglassed the bottom hull by the prop We rebuilt the gear, replaced all wiring, switches, gauges. Removed the old Pitot speed system and went with 4" Faria GPS speedo's. we used the thruhull holes to mount underwater lights. Added Castaway custom dash pad, and faux teak steps. Wet sanded the hull, applied new decals. Cleaned the bow storage area removed all of the old glue & carpet, fared and gelcoated to a yachtlike finish. We have 2 props the original 14x18 and an Acme 381 4 blade cnc tuned prop. The new engine came in took about 3 days to install. the biggest problem of the whole restoration the motorcover does not fit it need to be modified 5" wider 5" longer and 6" higher. I hired Emerald Coast Boatworks to modify it..what a nitemare that was he said could be done in 4/5 days took them 20 days to deliver what is probably the worst fiberglass work in the history of boat repairs. I had to build a wood deck with 4x4 and 2x4 to place the engine cover on to use the boat. As a drone photographer this was a huge problem for me, and soul crushing to my project. I talked a friend who is a boatbuilding genius, Weldon Customs into making me a new engine cover it took him 7 days and he built it out of Divinycell foam, we fit it and then glassed it, gelcoated the box and will have it uphostered this off season. Huge improvement!! The boat runs extremely well 47 mph top end and happy with performance. I bought the boat for $2,000 and have around $26,000 and 7 months of elbow grease in it. Wanted this boat since I was in 4th grade. look for it running around Destin, Fla. Thanks to Weldon Customs, AJ's Service Marine, The Ships Chandler, Ski Boat Parts Online, Skidim, Peter Biever, Huckelberry, Mike Wagner, And everyone else that helped with this project
