1985 Suzuki RM125 Classic Motocross Test Review 

I bought the 85 RM 125 F new , it was $ 2000 in Australia. With out doubt one of the best bikes I ever owned , top end power like a moto GP bike . When I was 16 years old and weighed 67kg nothing could touch me . I would make a mockery out of most 125 and 250s . One of Suzuki's best .

I loved my '85 RM125 ..... Scored my first nat points on it at Mt. Morris , Pa ..... Last yr of the awesome full floater suspension ( mtn. Biking brought it back out for a few yrs about a decade ago. Trek I think ) the '86 RM was about 2 steps backwards tho 😫

Won a District 6 Championship on a 1984 model. I ran the bike in 1985 as well and never had a DNF in 36 motos over that 2 year span. It was a great bike and it is still in my stable of bikes.

Things may have slowed down your channel, but for the Motocross geek like me your channel is a God send like The Motocross Files. My third time watching this particular video. I'm about 10 ten years older than you and remember the first issue of Dirt Bike my Dad brought home one day after work. Like then, today Motocross still has a family element to it and while most of us never realize our dreams of being Marty Smith or Bob Hannah the memories of Thursday Night Motocross at The Mt. Baker Motorcycle Club and the occasional thrill of racing on Sunday in Puyallup with the Tailgate smells of a family sport live on with your hard work.

I think Suzuki has some of the coolest history and really great bikes.

Well done Tony! I really enjoy watching these retro videos. With a little bit of engine work the 84 & 85 RM 125 can be turned into formidable race machines.

Momentum was the biggest factor in 125cc moto in the early 80's . More so than engine torque....and the floater was great over the breakers going in AND the chop coming out 👌

Awesome channel! The only way to easily get Suzuki throttle grip off is to pop into your local machinist and he’ll lathe it off in minutes saving the original throttle tube 👀👌🏼👍🏼

The RM125 is the king of the 125s IMO.

I've been living with a 1982 Suzuki RM465 for the past few months. I must say, the Full Floater rear suspension is indeed awesome and super comfortable even when riding outside of its intended range. It takes hard hits well and slow bump aren't bad. The thing I must ask is, have you ever looked at the Full Floater suspension? The design didn't have a fully isolated shock. The shock is actually solidly mounted to the swingarm. The only actual linkage was on the top section where it isolated the shock from the frame. The only thing I would call a linkage on the bottom is the swingarm itself.

In the very early 70's Suzuki was first to test the monoshock system that yamaha eventually put into production . Suz engineers rejected the concept and the designer the went to yamaha . Now you know the rest of the story

Hi Tony, one brother had the 85 125 but my 14 year old other brother got the 85 RM500. Brand new. What a buzz for us who had come from 80cc. Last model and only one with front disc. Rare as...I still do not know where it went..or if he still has it. Dont think he does even after all pleads to offer to family first

Man I have a video idea for you if you could because I cannot for the life find the articles anymore but I remember back the 99 Honda factory bikes I think it was dirt rider they had the article that those bikes were like $85,000 and it showed everything on them I mean not everything but like they had a computer on them so I think that would be really cool if you could find that article and maybe do a video on that

Suzuki has definitely dropped off as of late. However, they do offer a nice 50cc for beginners that rivals Yamaha.... But both need a higher rev limiter (something easily solved by aftermarket parts). You REALLY NEED to do a vid on the TRX450R. It set the ATVMX world on fire. Not the most power, not the best handling... But it did everything great.

in 1982 when this bike was born i was able to blast it hard enough as a wannabee in the open class of riders 30 + years old to end up at the end of the season to become 3rd place over all winner of the 1982 championship in the illiana out door supercross series ..i know that aint serious enough and excuses are same as assholes everyone has one and they all stink but i did manage to pass all the cr450r cr480r maico 490 ktm 495 husqvarna 510 kx500 yamaha 465 and all the 250's of every brand mentioned except two very fast guys who were factory riders on factory KX250's tuned beyond ..as these guys knew me very well as gene ramsey owner of lincolin trail motosports park and team rider for kawasaki along with gary peak team rider for kawasaki had just dropped their pro license to become 30+ open class national amatures ...so i became their target of a buddy, you're an old man poor man ,,i got mud on my face a big disgrace gene and gary put me back in my place singing we will we will rock you

Suzuki good while they are going. quality is weak, they break more than other makes
