I'm starting to binge bodywork content for my vanagon. I've acquired a bunch of tools and parts to get the job done and I hope to paint my vehicle soon. This will be my first rodeo btw...How much paint would I need to order to get the job done? I want to restore the factory color as well. Do you have a recommended source for paint?
Thank you! Definitely, if you watch a couple of my videos, I normally recommend sandblasting the same and then I have a process of working in a rust preventative, epoxy, seam sealer, and then sanding.
my friend used PPG - TBH the paint color match was close but NOT exact. It came out great. I was going to use Tamco, but the gallon fell out of the shaker, so I went iwth PPG. For my earlier projects, I used Nason. -- Get your wallet, the PPG gallon, in white, (cheapest) was about $300 dollars. Marhyde 2K primer first time and then PPG, for second primer coat. Does any of this matter ? Are you going to paint your VW ? The shop is going to have a preferred brand....Sikens, PPG, House of Color, etc. These vanagons have tons of surface area. Sanding them by hand sucks.
