when i got my 94 running , it was late on timing , had buddy who worked on deasels , told me to advance pump, moved it about 1/4 inch , made big difference in power , probably needs another 1/8 , i dont have special timing lite,have rebuilt injectors but not in yet, my buddy drove it and says leave it alone , run nice to him, Rick Martin Oxford Ohio

@KySilverfish 10 месяцев назад
I've read that manually advancing these type injection pumps can lead to engine runaway if advanced too much, so good to have a big towel and fire-extinguisher to stop the engine if it tries to self-destruct.

Liked video , i have a 94 idi factory turbo deasel 7.3 , bought to pull race cars, it is dual cab dually, came out of kansas so no rust, was told it had blown head gasket, but found off shore new bad thermastat , put in new glow plugs and controler, put on new mech fuel pump,got rid of electric pump , put in both gas tanks , in stock at orilleys, new door windo motor, new ignition switch all fron orileys , rebuilt back bumper, made big push bumper for front, this truck had a c6 trans, out of older truck, found od trans gave trouble when pulling trailer, also truck was changed to 354 rear gear instead of 4.10 , i have straight through exhaust, not very noisy, i guess turbo soaks up noise , i get 13-14 mpg bare, not sure when towing 24 ft enclosed trailer with 56 lincoln, i think if it was a 460 gas , it would get about 6 mpg. i have put about 5ooo miles , love the way it drives and rides, hard to park in town with dual rear wheels , plates cost more, newest vehical i ever owned. I love that even after nearly 35+ years you can actually hear that similar V8 engine sound that carried on with the new modern Ford Powerstrokes. Btw. LMC truck for the interior parts. Only place i can find 88-98 Chevy for mine

It’s cool to see a realistic driveway worker lol! Been messing with a 62 Deville and we have gotten to the point that we need to pull the engine so I am so excited for that!

Rolling in diesel fuel to install a new fuel tank, priceless. Been there and at night when the wind is calm..I can still smell the diesel. The exhaust came out nice. Your old GMC 4X4 looked badass.

As always great content! Excellent editing and I appreciate the fact that you show the real life struggles of tackling projects by yourself without help. That extra hand every now and then will save hours of work. I have made measurements in the finger smudge units of measurement also. Even used the metric toe smudge system in a pinch.😁. PS Greta is sooo proud of you!😂

I bought a 86 150 I6 in 95 with 116K on it and DDrove it for 4 years and put another 100K on it. That I6 was very strong but all the seals were gone and eventually got to 2qt a day habit. Good thing is nothing underneath rusted ! LOL

Google : Ford Truck Enthusiasts ( the forum) “How to change oil pan/gasket/pump/pickup with motor still in truck ( 300 straight six) written by Mark1986F150. It’s the hands down most thorough and comically well written how to on the 4.9. The preferred method ( short of pulling the motor) is to drop your oil pan, inspect the bottom end, then replace your oil pump/pickup, timing chain/gears, water pump, harmonic balancer/timing chain cover crank seal, rear main seal, and oil pan gasket/bolts in one fell swoop. In so doing, and with proper maintenance ( if your motor is sound) the ford straight six can easily go over 400k miles. The weak links are the oil pump and pickup, and the old phenolic timing gears and chain. If either of those fail prematurely then you’ll have a premature motor death. Also, investigate your camshaft gear teeth which mate up to the distributor drive gear ( and the distributor gear and roll pin) to verify that they are not galling up or getting thin on the teeth edges. A lot of people have experienced sheared distributor gear roll pins or gear failure.

I have the same year of truck with the 6.9 IDI with a bank's Turbo after market. Just like yours, I have a question. Have you ever replaced the air filter? And if so, where would you get one?

I haven’t had the truck for too long and the filter looked pretty clean, so I just blew it out real good with the compressor and put her back in 👍

Dude! You pulled out the old sending unit out and installed in new tank without putting a new pickup,/shower 🚿 head on it! They rot and fall off. It's in the old tank! Just keep it well above a 1/4 tank because that is your empty mark without a pickup screen.

Rub a bar of soap on the hole in the tank, that will stop the leak in a diesel tank. That will stop in an emergency.

So I like your channel and content, so willing to comment and since I am a few honest thoughts/questions. Your in the salt belt mid west. . .and diesel stinks and fuel tank work sucks. Why didnt't you coat that bare metal tank with something to help fight future corrosion? I would have primed, painted and maybe even applied undercoat. I would and do paint the pump lock down ring cause that thing is almost always corrodid to the point of wth. And the price of a new fuel pump at that stage . .. and age of the truck. . well. . do it once, do it right thing. The replacing the bolts was like another big hint at all this. But, I don't know the long term of the truck plans but to buff it? Interior. . and back to sounds like longer term. Just thoughts. Love your work, safe travels and when in doubt. . . paint it purple!
@NockRanch
@NockRanch 11 месяцев назад
Understandable point! I don't really drive it as much as I make it seem. Maybe 500-1,000 miles per year. I always coat the bottom of my vehicles with atf before each winter and try not to drive it when the salt is down! That protective coating on the steel tank should be sufficient for my use. Thanks for following along!!
