Richard Ortiz unfortunately you can't tell what cards are in a pack based on the sticker. You need to be able to see the top card through the wax which is difficult on PSA graded packs.

I was collecting cards in 1986 and most dealers only carried Baseball cards. I used to ask about Football and Basketball cards all the time and it seemed to piss them off for asking. Local convenient stores in my small town did carry Football cards, but no Basketball😔

People tend to open non graded packs, take what's valuable, and reseal them for resale completely fooling the buyer

Unfortunately, neither pack likely has the Jordan. The Drexler pack probably has Alvin Robertson, Doc Rivers, Robert Reid, Kurt Rambis, Larry Drew, Darryl Dawkins, Walter Davis, Maurice Lucas, Lewis Lloyd, the Checklist and James Worthy and the Ewing pack probably has Dan Schayes, Ralph Sampson, Jeff Ruland, Dan Roundfield, Wayne Rollins, Cliff Robinson, Julius Erving, Alex English, James Edwards, Mark Eaton and Joe Dumars. Also, it's interesting, these two packs appear to consecutive. In other words, they probably originally came in the box sitting together. two nice packs, though if they are PSA graded, it's definitely best to keep them that way.

Yes, it’s easy to tell if a pack is searched. As long as you can tell what the top card is, you can tell what cards are in the pack based on sequencing

+Mike Herickson The 86 and 87 Fleer basketball were packed in a very specific pattern. Assuming the pack is not tampered with, In order to land a Jordan you need one of (8) different cards on Top of the pack. those are Clark Kellogg, Albert King, Bernard King, Bill Laimbeer, Gus Williams, Herb Williams, Kevin Willis, and Randy Wittman. It is also possible (though not assured) to land a Jordan if the top card is Allen Leavell, Buck Williams or Al Wood. Its important to understand this when buying a graded pack of 86 fleer as the original owner probably screened the packs for Jordans and then had the non jordan packs graded. This is also why a full unsearched box of 86 Fleer sells for such a premium.

+Shaun Dougherty Awesome, man. I had no idea. Have you ever searched for graded packs with those listed players to land a Jordan? I'm guessing a lot of these collectors already know of this technique so i'm assuming they could go for thousands.

+Mike Herickson yeah the problem is that PSA cases make it impossible to see the top card without cracking it out of the case. GAI graded packs are a little easier because the plastic from the case sits directly on the top of the pack. But GAI packs are generally the riskiest in terms of legit untampered material. I've seen a lot of GAI packs that are certainly either fakes or searched prior to being graded. In fact there are two on Ebay right now. Both don't have stickers as the bottom card. very suspicious. It's also interesting that 87 fleer has the same sequencing. and with 87 fleer, the sticker is on the top which means you can almost always make out the bottom card (assuming it's not encapsulated). So sequencing the packs is even easier with 87 fleer which also has some pretty nice cards!

How do you know if a box of 86 Fleer is unsearched? They didn't come sealed in plastic did they? Therefore is the only way to be guaranteed a box is unsearched is if it comes from a sealed case? I'm crossing of opening a pack of 86 Fleer Basketball from my bucket list after watching this video.

Fake case? It was a genuine GAI case. They were the first company to grade packs.

Danny Ocean The 86 Fleer really didn't sell well at the time. It didn't get hot until after the 87 series came out.

As a matter of fact you can look it up ! The 86 fleer sold so bad that fleer had so much extra cards they destroyed them Kind of like the ATARI ET GAME LOL !. I Heard they either got thrown out in dumpsters or some say they dumped tons of cases out at sea ! Seriously

They've said that same " ocean throwing" about the 52 Topps High Numbers also.

some argue that the gloves are worse for the cards than bare fingers. but psa graders use gloves so i follow their example and always use nitrile gloves when handling raw

Cool link on grading packs. It's PSA (more reputable) not GAI standards but still applies. High pack grade does not necessarily mean mint cards when opened. They could have dings on corners, edges or just badly centered/miscut. www.psacard.com/Resources/GradingStandards#packs Now imagine an authentic unopened, never been touched 1952 Topps baseball pack. Collectors will pay $$$ for this. It's all about appeal. Hope this helps.

A lot of people don't know this but the old wax packs can be opened and resealed with an Hot iron If you open them carefully its as simply as that ! You can then reseal all the packs in the box after getting the good cards out of them! I Did that a few times with 1987 fleer baseball wax boxes ! I was looking for 1987 fleer BARRY BONDS rookies this was in the early 90's when I was a dumb kid and before cards were graded !Yes it was wrong of me, but I was like 16 OH WELL ! !

Years ago most dealers knew where the chase card was. It was lets say 3rd box down Upper right corner. Then they would sell sealed boxes on line.dont know if they mix it now
