I have an all original 86 f150 XL. 5.0 a.o.d. made same month and year I was born. Was my dad's and I bought it from him for my first truck. Fell in love with it as a young boy and I still love it today.
I'd had my baby for a long time, identical to this and I love it. Truck is my life, has never left me stranded but once. Dual tanks, plenty of power, rides good.. just perfect all around
I had one in red/silver. 300ci straight six and 4-speed. Awesome truck! Oh how I wish I had it now! Between it and my 2006 Ranger, the 2 best trucks I ever owned!
My uncle got the first imported f150 to Ecuador, it was tough as hell, he claimed he towed tractors and rode across swamps, he once even crashed a bull and it was barely visible. My whole family married ford cars since then, even though they don't make them like they used to.
A buddy of mine had a gorgeous example of this same pickup back in '93 but in two tone red and white, sporting aluminum directional mag wheels wrapped with Kelly Safari all terrains. It had a perfectly tuned 460 mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. It was the baddest ass truck I've ever been in to this day. We'd haul ass to college on all the back raods between Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington on a steady diet of Yukon Jack whiskey and Wayon Jennings cranking out of the alpine stereo system. Damn, time sure flies.
Might be the prettiest truck I've ever seen. Wow! Got the same one, but it's an old farm truck and pretty rough to say the least. It's a flat bed too, so you do take some aesthetic hits.
Had one. LOVED it! Sold it for more than I paid and bought a '99 and love it as well. Both GREAT trucks -- two of the most reliable vehicles I've owned out of 29. (My Toyota cars come in a close second.)
Had an '86 F250 Diesel - love/hate relationship with that one. Like the truck, the look, the utility, but was ALLways working on it. Bought a 1999 F-150 after that and after 20 years haven't put 1/2 the repair time into the '99 as I did in one year on that '86 diesel. Still miss the truck though.
O the memories banging on the door panel to get the window up or the d falling off the tail gate or perhaps the uncountable electrical problems when it rained and water dripped on the fuse box in the cab or the countless engine problems with the first year of EFI but all that aside it was my first truck and I learned how to fix my own vehicle
***** We have an 85 but it's got almost 300000 on it now and it's dented and rusted beyond help, always used for farm work it's whole life. The '13 is supposed to be our nice pickup but it gets used for farm work too. Personally I like the old ones better. It's a simpler design, easier to work on, doesn't break very easily, just all together a better pickup.
The KISS principle. Keep it simple stupid. Disc brakes and electronic ignition were the two final "improvements" on trucks. Disc's are vastly superior to drums and anything to get rid of points. Beyond that, computers, electronic fuel injection with a jillion "sensors", the whole schmear is just WRONG. The ability to diagnose and repair yourself is gone. In its place CRAP that accomplishes little. We HEAR about how many more miles modern vehicles are capable of delivering. My old 300 CID inline sixes got north of 300,000, and NEVER needed a "real" mechanic. This new stih MAY be able to deliver more miles. but try keeping them running with all the computer crap.
Don't see them this clean any more. Some of the first efi's with a/c! I'm very impressed with this beauty. I would of loved to see the tcase axles and underneath too!
Not a Ford guy, but that truck is in beautiful shape. It was rarely seen back in the 80s to have a truck fully loaded like that with a/c, cruise, power windows, etc. Most didn't order the Lariat trim level.
Thanks man ,this inspired me. Last night walking to car after work I was like I'll get a newer truck by xmas, heck I may get an older one like this but I think I'll just cherry TF out of my 99 150.thanks again I'mma save this vid, watch daily so I don't get sidetracked by the damn casino and whatnot.
I have a 86’ F-150 just like this with 51,000 original miles, due to a cracked exhaust manifolds decided to step it up by putting headers and having it bored.30 over, long story short,I’ve had it in my garage for the last 28 years and will soon began the restoration process,I’m the original owner and everything is almost in place to be installed TCI streetfighter transmission,it will have dual exhaust and may need some dashboard replacement due to aging and cracking but, before long it should be on the streets again
About 5 years ago I bought an 89 f250 off my father in law, truck had 44k miles. It was immaculate! Sold it to a buddy and bought an 87 buick grand national!
Dream truck. I miss the square body-style trucks had before the new millennia. I know they're more economic with the rounder, more aerodynamic bodies but they're just ugly. I plan on saving up for an old F150 to restore in the near future to cruise around town in on my days off.
If you plan on restoring an 80-86 F150 short bed. Make sure to find one with the bed on the back. Nobody makes a short bed replacement. They make the long bed but not the short bed.
I have an 1986 lariat. Can't go wrong the thing has been out on the farm it's whole life. Just got new spark plugs. Old ones were original. Starts every time. Could be -40c to +40c. It just doesn't care
Yo soy pobre pero trabajador..y si algun día Dios me bendijera con un buen trabajo lo primero pensara en el ke no tiene nada y despues me diera el lujo de comprarme una troka clasica..las amodoro
I roll in an 86 f150xlt. 302. 4 spd. Got it in 04. Garage kept original owner/title. 78000 miles. 1400.00. Best 1400 I've ever spent. Now has 140000 miles. Would jump in and take a road trip no prob.
Lo recuerdo muy bien porque salió en American Pie 2. Nunca lo vi en la vida real pero puedo ver que es una camioneta impresionante. Sí puedo decir que llegué a tener una camioneta de juguete de niño con el modelo de esa F150.
My older brother had an '87 F-250 with the 6.9(nice) IDI back in the early 2000s... it was red and white two-tone. That thing was slow as balls and noisy, but damn if it didn't have presence.
That's a real beauty ... I just loved it back when trucks were made out of metal and didn't have all those plastic parts that would crack and break after a few years.
No, I haven't but I have owned a 1978 F-150 and a 1977 F-100. Come to think of it, I guess you're right ... My uncle has a 1983 F-250 and he has already had to replace the cab and the bed is starting to rust again around the wheel wells. I know on the 67-72 F-100s they rust real bad around the inner aprons under the hood where the hood hinges bolt up.
@@trsitanroberston3647 I know how much I liked mine I have owned every style change since 1973 to 1995. That is a nice looking truck and I hope you enjoy it. I liked the inside of the cab for some reason to me it felt like more room was in it compared to my other trucks.
