Many people thought Ralph Sampson turned out to just been a bust. If you look back at his career before the injury (which I'll admit was a very short period) I think him and Hakeem would have been dominate for a decade together. Sports medicine was in a very different era and Sampson typical of the age came back way to soon, basically crippled himself, and still was able to hang around the NBA as at least a bit of a shot blocker, but before injury with that kind of speed size and athleticism, in a more inside the paint focus period of the NBA I believe he would have been a hall of famer
@edkiely2712
@edkiely2712 7 месяцев назад
People talk about Wembayama's skill-set but, Ralph was really the first 7-footer who possessed a great handle, had good range on his outside shot, and had athleticism for days to go with it. Ralph wasn't the smartest player though. He would make stupid turnovers, plus, he could be quite lazy when he wasn't engaged, especially on defense. I'll never forget how the Boston crowd completely took him out of his game in Gm #6 of the '86 Finals. He completely withered under the pressure and taunting!

Besides Hakeem who is probably the greatest defensive center of all time, this game, 80s basketball doesn't look as physical as many claim it to be. These athletic point guards in the NBA today would've cooked Magic. Imagine what a field day Steph Curry with his shooting would have had against this era.
