Love yer channel and yer a great fella to watch bring it in. With that said, would love to hear the story behind ya guys choice of equipment. There seems to be an aversion to Cat and always like hearing why choose the machinery they run. I am in California and dearly miss older iron. I had no idea a 5 Spd could "heavy haul" and it's awesome watching. Hope you can do a line up video and see yer spread. Lots of interesting machinery
All great ideas and I plan to. Thanks for watching! Quickly on the choice of machines. My grandfather had a Cat D4 but in 1969 he started doing flood work after hurricane Camille. He went to Cat for bigger dozers but they wouldn’t back them for the work he was going to do. So he went to Allis Chalmers and they said put them where you want to, they would back them. After Allis Chalmers went under my father and uncle rebuilt a lot of the old equipment and slowly started to get Komatsu from a local dealer that had been helping with track work on the older machines. So that’s where we are haha
@@AppalachianRust 10-4! Great stuff my man! I am a machinery/truck nut who's a carpenter and just appreciate taking the time to post! Nothing makes me happier than seeing the older mechanical iron being ran! Cheers bro!
Awesome. Did you find this video randomly on RU-vid? And Thanks, we got a cover crop of millet on the land and it finally rained down there (maybe a little too much at once though). We were a little worried since it had been so dry. The last time I was there it looked like it had came up well enough. I think they were going to maintain the property and slowly build on each lot.
@AppalachianRust yes just totally randomly, so weird the circumstances! I clicked because of the mack, my son and I own a trash business and have purchased a few big trucks in the past year or so, KW T880 rolloff and mack md7 sideloader. We have a driver but my son's getting his cdl in a couple weeks.
@@clarkecampbell5843 Nice and good luck to your son with his cdl. We still have to move that pan away. We’ll probably fix a bigger trailer to bring it home. I’ll probably make a video if I can
@@AppalachianRust Gotcha! I saw Route 60 and figured somewhere around there. The F700 I drove had a ENDT235 and 5 speed. Fast downhill, slow uphill and Armstrong steering but never left me anywhere! Thanks for your time
@@woodhonky3890 this truck is a straight 5 speed. Some trucks have a 6 speed that has either a second stick or an air shifter like on the dump truck that I drive. The rear ends don’t have a separate gear
@@ButternutTrucker we’ve had several employees in the past but we’ve slowed down to just my Dad, uncle and myself and haven’t been looking to hire for a while.
@@AppalachianRust it was hopeful thinkin' aloud. I appreciate the reply anyhow. Keep up the great content, I love seein' the notifications for your videos pop up. Don't always get to watch all'em, but I try to.
Hate the r model Mack’s. Constantly getting passed. No power the 5 speed box was like throwing a hot dog down a hall. Don’t get me started on the stupid thing starting up backwards. Biggest poles on the road since new. Best of luck.
I got my chuffer license in 1976. I've drove all kinds of trucks. As far as looks in my opinion the R model is right there with the 359 pete and the W900a. But now matter what motors the pete or kw have that 300 plus mack with a 2 stick 6sp and 4.44 gear will stay right with them pulling a grade
